The police are trying to catch a huge gang that uses hidden cameras to film women and earn money through them. On the other hand, the hero Nabi Nanthi and Sharath are searching for the members of the gang and killing them. Meanwhile, the hero, who meets his childhood friend after many years and is unable to express his love for her, continues his murderous journey. What is the connection between the hero Nabi Nanthi and this gang? ‘Bogi’ tells the main reason for the increasing crimes against women, including sexual assault, in the country, in a commercial and colorful way, based on true incidents.
Nabi Nandi, who plays the hero, is a debutant actor but has performed so well that it is not noticeable like his first film. He has played the role of a brother who is affectionate towards his younger sister, and has acted menacingly in scenes where he takes revenge for the cruelty done to his sister.
‘Lappar Bandhu’ fame Suvasika, who plays the hero’s sister and the focal point of the story, is young. She has portrayed tribal women who overcome many struggles and progress through education, and through her performance, she has revealed the physical and mental struggles of women who are affected and distorted by crimes against women, leaving the audience shaken.
Sarath, who travels with the hero on his journey to avenge his wrongdoing, Poonam Kaur, who entertains the audience by dancing to a song, Vela Ramamoorthy, who plays a police officer, Naan Kadavul Rajendran, who plays the villain in a different look, M.S. Bhaskar, who makes you laugh with his silly acting even in one scene, veteran actor Sangili Murugan, and ‘Pichaisakkaran’ Karthi, all the actors have acted in a way that adds strength to the flow of the screenplay.
Cinematographer Raja C. Sekar has neatly visualized the story taking place in different time periods, and has shot the scenes in a way that conveys the pain of the people of the mountain villages and the pain of innocent women affected by crimes against women to the audience, and has presented the song scenes in a colorful way, making the film commercially prominent.
Music by Maria Manohar, with Snehan’s lyrics, all the songs are of the repetitive type. The background music is also no slouch.
The work of editor Suresh Urs and stunt director Anbariv has added strength to the film. S.T. Suresh Kumar’s dialogues are sharp.
Written and directed by Vijayasekaran.S- Although the screenplay is based on social problems, the painful lives of tribal people, and some real incidents that happened in the country, he has not told it just as a tragedy, but has told it as a comedy, love, action, and songs in a commercial way.
Director Vijayasekaran.S has talked about many important issues such as the fact that women who are victims of sexual crimes are sexually exploited even after death, and the gangs who trade on their private videos without their knowledge due to the craze for social media and the use of smartphones. Instead of telling it in a straight line, the story travels on different paths, which distracts the audience.
Despite the flaws, the problems that could have been told in the film and the fact that it has been told in a popular way, rather than like propaganda, make it worth watching.
