Siddhu Moolimani, Santhosh, Sri Vaishnav and Krishna Vijay, who come from different states, join a company in Bengaluru as sales executives and become friends. Although working in sales is challenging, the four friends enjoy doing their jobs. However, as they fail to achieve the growth expected by their company, they incur the displeasure of their superiors.
Meanwhile, the son of a businessman is kidnapped, and the police announce that the four friends are behind the kidnapping. As a result, the entire police department begins searching for them. To escape from the situation, the friends decide to use their experience as sales executives and the training they received to clear their names and rescue the kidnapped boy. Whether they succeed or not is told humorously in ‘Cold Call’.
“Cold Call” is a term commonly associated with sales-related work. Since the story revolves around incidents in the lives of sales executives, the film has been given this title.
Siddhu Moolimani, Santhosh, Sri Vaishnav and Krishna Vijay, who play the protagonists, are newcomers to Tamil cinema, but all four have performed their roles well.
Since the protagonists are youngsters from four different states—Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala—the filmmakers have chosen actors from those respective regions to portray them. All four actors contribute to the film in their own ways.
Amitha Ranganatha, Nisha Hegde, Meli Litti and Keerthana Pulki, who play the female leads, have also performed their roles effectively.
The actors who play the company’s manager, sales trainer and other supporting characters are also suitable choices for their respective roles.
Cinematographer Saravanan’s work is simple but suits the requirements of the story.
The songs composed by Pranav Giridharan have a commercial feel and are pleasant to listen to. The background score is adequate.
Suresh Arumugam’s editing work is also satisfactory.
Writer-director Thambidurai does not simply explain what working as a salesperson is like. Instead, he attempts to present the simple incidents, unforgettable moments and pleasant experiences from their lives in an entertaining manner.
Despite limited resources and a small budget, director Thambidurai has attempted to deliver a complete commercial entertainer, and he succeeds in conveying what he intended to say in an effective manner.
