The hero Prabhas, who goes in search of his grandfather who went missing many years ago, learns that Sanjay Dutt, a terrible magician who has learned various magic tricks, is his grandfather. At the same time, while trying to get closer to his grandfather, he comes to know many shocking facts and has to face a situation with his grandfather. Why this conflict? , What problems does this cause in Prabhas’ life, and how does he recover from it? ‘Raja Saab’ has mixed all kinds of spices including horror and fantasy.
After ‘Baahubali’, Prabhas, who had acted in many big action films in an attempt to make a place in the list of Hollywood action heroes, decided to act in his old style of masala film again and acted in this one. However, he has faced a major setback through this film too. In particular, he has acted as if he does not know how to act in a film that has no story. Although Prabhas has been given a lot of buildup, all of it has gone unaccomplished and has become like a speed bump to the flow of the screenplay.
Although the film has three heroines, Malavika Mohanan, Nithi Agarwal, and Rithi Kumar, not a single one has a compelling character. All three have been locked up in a haunted house and used for song scenes and as set properties.
Although Sanjay Dutt, who plays Prabhas’ grandfather, and Sarina Wagah, who plays Prabhas’ grandmother, have done their job well, their screen presence does not add any strength to the film. Bomman Irani also comes and goes.
Karthik Palani’s cinematography is designed to comfort the audience. Although the VFX sequences are of poor quality, the work of the cinematographer who has combined them with the scenes and given the film a colorful look is commendable.
Although the songs in Thaman.S’ music are of a commercial nature, the noise of the background music is ear-splitting.
Although there are many things that should be removed from the film, such as the old-fashioned story, slow-moving screenplay, and unnecessary scenes, there is no forgiveness for the editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, who has edited the scenes to make it more than three hours long.
Maruthi, who has written and directed the film, has done the job of providing a makeover for Prabhas, who is tired of acting in action films and is suffering from physical pain, by using three heroines.
Although the film has all the elements required for commercial films – romance, comedy, glamour, horror, fantasy – none of them are enjoyable, which is a major weakness of the film.
