Jiiva, the village head, takes charge of all the villagers’ family functions, from weddings to funerals, to secure their votes. While Jiiva is busy with the preparations for Ilavarasu’s daughter’s wedding, Thambi Ramaiah’s ailing father, who lives next door, passes away.
Due to a pre-existing feud between Ilavarasu and Thambi Ramaiah, Thambi Ramaiah insists that his father’s funeral procession must take place at the same time as Ilavarasu’s daughter’s wedding. Ilavarasu, on the other hand, is adamant that his daughter’s wedding must take place at his house.
The film ‘Thalaivar Thambi Thalaivil’ humorously and thoughtfully depicts whether Jiiva, who takes on the responsibility of mediating between these two families and ensuring both events proceed smoothly, succeeds in his endeavor.
Jiiva perfectly fits into the role of a cheerful and responsible character who interacts with everyone, from children to elders, with love, care, and friendship. Through his natural acting, he carries the entire film on his shoulders. While all the other characters in the film are significant to the screenplay and entertain the audience, Jiiva leaves his mark as the leader who guides and manages them all.
Prathana Nathan, who garnered attention as the daughter in the film ‘Parking’, captivates the audience with her simple beauty and restrained performance in the role of the bride. Ilavarasan and Thambi Ramaiah, who served as the central figures of the story, have enhanced the screenplay’s appeal with their natural performances.
Jensen Divakar, Sarjin Kumar, Jaivanth, Rajesh Pandian, Amit Mohan, Subhash Kannan, Sarath, and Savithri keep the audience entertained throughout the film.
Cinematographer Pablu Aju, who has captured the entire film in vibrant colors, gives the feeling of watching a Malayalam film.
The songs composed by music director Vishnu Vijay are celebratory in nature. The background score effectively complements the visuals.
From the beginning to the end of the film, even though the story unfolds in a single location, editor Arjune Babu has kept the pace brisk, preventing any sense of monotony. He has also neatly conveyed the director’s intended message to the audience.
The screenplay by Sanjo Joseph, Nithish Sahadev, and Anuraj O.P. has added immense strength to the simple storyline. Although the film is humorous throughout, some of the issues discussed are thought-provoking.
Director Nithish Sahadev has presented realistic life events humorously through very neat visuals, making the film enjoyable. In particular, his handling of the entire film in a style reminiscent of Malayalam cinema provides a fresh experience for Tamil audiences.
