Dinesh, who is known for playing cricket, prioritizes cricket over his wife, children and work. So, wherever cricket is played in the city, he will go out to play. Young Harish Kalyan, despite being a brilliant cricketer, is rejected by his hometown cricket team due to caste discrimination. Thus, he quenches his thirst for cricket by playing as a guest player in the teams that offer him the opportunity.

The ego clash between these two, which starts with cricket, causes problems in their lives as well. “Labber Ball” tells the story of how the ego conflict and the discrimination in people’s minds are dissolved through the same game of cricket, which does not stop playing cricket no matter what the problem may be, without hurting anyone’s feelings and accepting the logic of the story.

In ‘Atta Kaththi’ Dinesh has tried to impress people by playing a mature character that does not suit his age. While her natural acting makes her venture a success, does she need it when she’s pitted against Harish Kalyan? The question arises in the audience’s mind. However, he hides his age and makes his character enjoyable through his acting, which shows his longing for his wife’s separation and the ego that comes with the game of cricket in many ways.

Although the character of Harish Kalyan, who plays the hero, does not have much heroism, he handles the role very well and leaves the audience as the hero. Harish Kalyan, who perfectly fits the character of art and love, has done justice to the discrimination in people’s minds without speaking revolutionary lines, with his performance.

Swasvika of ‘Koripalayam’ fame, who is playing the role of Dinesh’s wife, leaves the actors around her in many places with her performance. He shows his anger through his gaze, threatens through his diction and body language.

Playing Harish Kalyan’s girlfriend and Dinesh’s daughter, Sanjana Krishnamurthy cleverly manages the ego clash between boyfriend and dad and proves scene by scene that she is no slouch to her mother in anger.

Playing a passionate cricketer, Kali Venkat, as usual, adds strength to the character of Karupiya with her realistic performance.

Bala Saravanan, who appears throughout the film as Harish Kalyan’s friend, makes the audience laugh and think with his dialogues. Especially the one who gets applause by describing the form of caste discrimination, proves his presence scene by scene throughout the film.

Jensen Diwakar, who plays Dinesh’s friend, handles the character who travels with the story lively and makes us laugh. Kadir, who has acted as a cricket commentator, is sure to get an opportunity as a Tamil commentator for the IPL series. All the commentary lines given by him in the cricket match shake the theater like a burst of laughter.

Geetha Kailasam who plays Dinesh’s mother, DSK, Devdarshini who plays Harish Kalyan’s mother are all suitable choices for the role.

Cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman’s camera has perfectly combined the cricket matches and the emotions of the characters to convey it to the audience.

Composer Shawn Roldan’s music, songs and background music bring the rubber ball to life and connect with people’s hearts.

The work of cinematographer Madan.ji and art director Veeramani Ganesh has traveled beyond film to record a life in a very natural way.

Director Tamilarasan Pachamuthu, who has tried to dissolve the ego and discrimination in people’s minds by keeping the interest of the youth towards the game of cricket, has given it as a lively celebration.

Although the discrimination in the minds of the people and the caste behind it have been openly talked about, the director Tamilarasan Pachamuthu gets applause by beautifully displaying the many good things that happen depending on it, the people who forget the differences and live together and their emotions.

Just a few minutes after the start of the story, how will the screenplay travel?, what will happen at the end? Although it is left to the audience to guess, the lively dialogues and the humorous handling of the plot situations make the audience to join the film without leaving them guessing.
The director who has designed the characters of all the stars in the film in such a way that the viewers will remember them, one of the two heroes is a Vijayakanth fan and the other is a Vijay fan, and the age difference between them has been very cleverly told in screen language and he has kept the scenes to celebrate Vijayakanth and Vijay fans in the film.

Although it is a story centered on cricket, Kodambakkam is sure to roll out the red carpet for director Tamilarasan Pachamuthu, who has given a complete populist work that can make all parties celebrate by telling it all lively and close to the heart, even if it talks about family relations, love, caste discrimination, food politics.
