The hero Manikandan and the heroine Sanvi Meghna, who belong to different castes, fall in love. Since both the families oppose their love, they leave home and get married. After getting married and becoming a family man, Manikandan’s financial needs increase. Manikandan, who is running around with the idea of somehow improving his job and fulfilling the needs of his family, loses his job. Since it will be a problem if his family finds out, he finds another job without telling his family and takes a loan to meet the family expenses.

Despite facing financial difficulties such as not getting a job as expected, not being able to repay the loan he took, and at the same time trying to solve his problems, Manikandan, who travels with self-respect and confidence with the mindset that money is not the only thing in life, changes to the mindset that money is life with the help of his family. Did his change of heart solve his problems? Or not?, was his change of heart right? Wrong?, is what ‘Kudumbasthan’ humorously tells.

Manikandan, who is good at handling the characters he plays very realistically and conveying it to the people, is very clear in the story selection that the same style of plot and character selection is used even though he plays the hero of the story. Manikandan, who creates scenes of problems that many young people have overcome or are struggling to overcome, such as love marriage, problems that arise in the family, financial problems, efforts to overcome them, and failures in them, makes the audience laugh and enjoy them through his body language and natural acting. At some points, the audience understands what he is going to do next and laughs in advance, making his character so compelling that he draws their full attention to himself.

Sanvi Meghna, who plays the heroine, has entered and played without knowing the trail of a newcomer. Since she is a woman from a different caste, she handles it very casually and responds to it, and she gets applause for her excellent acting, from the scenes where her husband’s relatives talk nonsense, to the scenes where she accuses her mother-in-law and expresses her anger even during labor pains.

Manikandan, on the one hand, holds the film with his performance, and on the other hand, Guru Somasundaram holds the film. He lives with the mindset that money is important, and the scenes of him preparing for his trip to China and the antics he does during it make even those who don’t laugh laugh out loud.

R. Sundararajan, who plays Manikandan’s father, has poured out his usual Coimbatore sardonic humor after a long time. Kudasanath Kanakam, who plays the hero’s mother, although he doesn’t know Tamil, adds great strength to her character through her gaze and body language.

Nivedita Rajappan, who plays the hero’s sister, director Balaji Sakthivel, who plays Manikandan’s boss, Prasanna Balachandran, Jensen Diwakar, and Anirudh, all the actors in the film, in one way or another, make the audience laugh until their stomachs ache.

Cinematographer Sujith N. Subramaniam’s camera has captured the characters’ natural scenes without changing their nature, and has beautifully displayed their body language, conveying the humor in them to the audience.

The songs and background music composed by composer Vaisakh have traveled in accordance with the story. In particular, the composer’s insistence that even the background music should have a sense of humor is particularly noteworthy.

Although the characters and their speeches that are present throughout the film are scenes, editor Kannan Balu has edited them in a way that is enjoyable and has kept the film moving without faltering.

Prasanna Balachandran and Rajeshwar Kalisamy, who have written the story and screenplay focusing on the problems faced by every man running for his family, have handled it with moderation and kept the audience entertained.

Although Bisanna Balachandran’s dialogues are all laugh-out-loud funny, some of the dialogues about caste discrimination are unnecessary to this story and feel like they are being imposed. However, I commend you for handling it in a civilized manner and expressing the reality of the current times through your verses.
Director Rajeshwar Kalisamy, who has designed the scenes in a way that makes the audience relate to the film, such as the lives that many have gone through, the lives that many are trying to overcome, and he makes the film laugh by telling the hardships of the family members in a comedic way and making them enjoy the film.

Although the film is in a regular format, with the comedy concept of regular incidents happening in the family, which has been seen in many films, the situations have been filmed naturally and the actors have been made to act naturally and make them laugh, the audience is able to forget the film’s shortcomings and enjoy the film happily.
