Lijomol Jose, who lives in an apartment in Chennai with her husband Hari Krishnan, thinks that her husband is being overly affectionate towards her, but she finds out through her husband’s cell phone that he is in a relationship with another woman. Lijomol Jose, who is furious at this, kills her husband. Unfazed by the sight of her husband dying in a pool of blood, she hides the body in the refrigerator and starts doing her job normally.
Meanwhile, the police, who have started an investigation based on the complaint filed by Hari Krishnan’s girlfriend to the police that he is missing, have they found out what happened to Hari Krishnan? Did Lijomol Jose, who is roaming around freely after killing her husband, escape the clutches of the law? Or not? ‘Gentlewoman’ tells the shocking and surprising story in a way that will shock and amaze.
Lijomol Jose, who plays the heroine of the story, is upset like an ordinary woman after knowing the mistake her husband has made, but the next moment she does something completely unexpected and leaves the audience in awe. Although it is surprising for the viewers to go through every day without showing any anxiety after killing her husband, she handles it very normally through her acting and receives applause.
Hari Krishnan, who plays the hero, is a good boy with devotion to God and a band on his forehead, but when it comes to women, he has become a prankster to the point of saying, “You poor thing…” Despite having fewer scenes, she has fully traveled the storyline.
Losliya, who plays another heroine, has done justice to her character and has played the role of women who depend on men for protection perfectly.
Dharani, who plays Lijomol Jose’s younger sister, Rajiv Gandhi, who plays the police inspector, stunt master Sudesh, who plays the police joint commissioner, and Vairabalan, who plays the police constable, have all done their jobs well. Especially Rajiv Gandhi, who plays the police inspector, all the scenes where he expresses his affection for his hometown are bursting with laughter.
Sudesh, who plays the assistant commissioner of police, fits perfectly into the role of a high-ranking police officer and has acted well in the role that exposes the sexual harassment that occurs in the police. If you give stunt direction a break and focus on acting, you will definitely get villain and character opportunities.
The songs in the music of composer Govind Vasantha are in a way that narrates the plot. The background music has traveled to add strength to the plot.
Although cinematographer S. Kathavarayan has shot most of the scenes inside the apartment, he has neatly conveyed the mental struggles of the characters to the audience.
Although there are a lot of dialogue scenes, editor Ilayaraja Sekar has neatly edited the scenes to create the expectation in the audience of what will happen next.
Director Joshua Sethuraman, who has based the screenplay on a true crime incident, has designed the scenes in a way that justifies what the heroine did since she is the one who committed the crime.
Although director Joshua Sethuraman, who has commercialized feminism through lines such as “No matter what level women reach, men keep them below them,” has conveyed what he has to say in a popular way and made people enjoy it, the lack of cinematic and believable design of his female characters somewhat weakens the film’s strength.
