Produced by director Vetimaaran, written and directed by La.Rajkumar, the web series 'Pettaikali'. The first part of this 8-part series was released on October 20th on the Aah Tamil ODD site, so far five parts have been released each week. How about these five parts? Let's see that review.
Jallikattu competition has been shown in many movies. But jallikattu competition comes and goes in a song or some scene. But this web series is entirely based on jallikattu competition.
The story of this web series is the conflict and politics between the youths who participate in jallikattu competition and show their bravery by taming the bulls on one side, and the big men who raise bulls that no one can tame and make a name for themselves in jallikattu on the other side.
No one can tame the bull of village farmer Velaramurthy. Due to this, he gets special honor in jallikattu competition. At the same time, Kaliyarasan, a skilled cowherd who can tame any bull, and his villagers cannot tame Velaramamurthy's bull, the town rules. But despite that control, Kalaiyarasan tames Velaramamurthy's bull. So, 'Bettaikali' is telling the events that happen after the big problem, with different twists.
The first part focuses on the caste division, while the second part focuses on the jallikattu contest politics.
The third part will focus on the rivalry and intrigue to seize power, while the fourth part will focus on the 'pettayakali'? With the fact that the entry of Pettayakali comes to light, there is interest to know when the next parts will be released.
Kalaiyarasan, who plays the role of a cowherd, has shown speed in acting like a bull. He turns into a true cowherd hero when he captures the bull. Every scene he comes in travels at jet speed.
Vela Ramamurthy, who is playing the role of a village farmer, has shown his usual appeal. Despite being a good choice for the character, her performance is boring as it is.
Kishore, who plays Kalaiyarasan's uncle, takes us into the story in his introductory scene. Kishore, who is a mentor to the youth and villagers, wins applause for the calmness with which he shows anger in his eyes despite the anger in his eyes in the scene where he challenges for Kalaiyarasan after the end of the seven country panchayat.
Bala Haasan, who plays Velaramamurthy's son, has played the role of Sootchi's avatar. He has shown a difference in acting where he initially opposes his father's actions and then changes after his father's authority comes into his hands.
Kishore, Velaramamurthy and Kalaiyarasan occupying three parts, Sheela Rajkumar and Pettaikali debuting in the fourth part, what will happen in the subsequent parts? They create an expectation that
Velraj's cinematography showcases a jallikattu competition that has never been seen on screen before. All the Jallikattu match scenes are stunning as they depict the real Jallikattu match.Kalaiyarasan also plays in that match, the way the emotions of the characters are expressed is elegant, the adventures of the bull taming players in the Jallikattu match are really thrilling.
Music composition has been done under the supervision of music director Santhosh Narayanan. Some of the songs in the background music remind me of films like 'Polladhavan' and 'Vadachennai'. Apart from that, the music adds strength to the scenes.
Written and directed by La. Rajkummar initially moves the story around caste, but then takes us on a never-seen-before journey into the jallikattu competition and the men who love it, the politics between them.
Director La.Rajkumar, who keeps the four parts moving without a break by keeping many turning points so that after the completion of one part, the anticipation of what will be in the next part, has finally ended in a way that makes you want to watch the remaining four parts.
All in all, 'Pettaikakali' web series, which is amazingly shot on jallikattu competition, will take center stage in the world.
