Directed by Karthik and produced by Sreenidhi Sagar under Rice East Entertainment, the upcoming Tamil film ‘Made in Korea’ starring Priyanka Mohan is set for a direct-to-Netflix release on March 12.
A pre-release promotional event was recently held in Chennai, where the lead actress, director, and producer shared insights about the film and their experience shooting in Korea.
Producer Sreenidhi Sagar highlighted the uniqueness of the project: “This is the first Tamil film shot in Korea. It’s an emotional story about a woman achieving her dream. Shooting in Korea had its challenges, but the actors’ performances and the on-location production came out wonderfully. Priyanka’s simple, relatable appearance helped bring authenticity to her character. The film emphasizes that with hard work, dreams can come true, no matter the obstacles.”
Director Karthik, whose debut film was ‘Nitham Oru Vaanam’, said: “Shooting in Korea requires precise planning. Netflix’s pan-Indian release allows the film to reach audiences in 13 dubbed languages and 36 subtitled languages. Our main audience includes the younger generation who are fans of Korean dramas and have always wanted to visit Korea. This film connects with that audience emotionally.”
Priyanka Mohan shared her preparations for the role: “Before shooting, I watched Korean dramas and learned some Korean phrases. We shot for about one-and-a-half months there, dealing with unpredictable weather. I even performed Tamil songs like Sundari from Thalapathy for locals. The character Senba’s journey to self-discovery is central to the story, and that’s what ‘Made in Korea’ is about.”
With its international setting, cross-cultural appeal, and a strong OTT release strategy, ‘Made in Korea’ promises to engage audiences across India and beyond.
