In a deserted area with very little human activity, the severed head of Vijay Sethupathi is found. The police arrive at the scene, recover the head, and begin searching for the body. While the body is not found, they discover a letter and some money. The letter reads:
“Bury my head and take this money.”
As the police begin investigating who was murdered, they learn that Vijay Sethupathi’s character is named Muthu. As they dig deeper into who Muthu is, they uncover many surprising details about him.

Even though the first few episodes don’t clearly reveal who Muthu is, they successfully build curiosity and keep the narrative engaging.
Direction & Theme
Director Manikandan combines suspense with emotional storytelling. Alongside the mystery, he portrays the lives of ordinary people, earning appreciation in many moments.
Though it can be assumed that the story is about how a man named Muthu becomes “Kaattaan,” the director presents it in an engaging way, staying true to his style of showcasing simple lives and their emotional depth.
Drawbacks
While each episode is engaging and filled with surprises, the series slows down in portions where Vijay Sethupathi does not appear.
Although many supporting characters are given importance, some of their scenes feel unnecessary and slightly drag the narrative.
Final Verdict
Despite minor pacing issues, the mystery of “Who is Muthu?” and Vijay Sethupathi’s compelling journey keep the series engaging and enjoyable to watch.
