Even though his appearance invites ridicule from others, George Maryan feels proud that his son, GV Prakash, is handsome and raises him with great care and affection. However, GV Prakash feels ashamed because his father is mocked for his looks, and he distances himself from him, choosing to hide his identity.
GV Prakash moves to Bangalore for work, where he meets the heroine Sri Gouri Priya, and they fall in love. Her wealthy father, Abbas, initially accepts their relationship. But during the wedding arrangements, Abbas becomes angry upon seeing George Maryan’s simple appearance and straightforward behavior, and insults him.
Abbas, who judges people based on their looks, is taught a fitting lesson by George Maryan. This leads to a conflict between them, and the wedding gets called off.
Believing that his father is the reason for the broken marriage, GV Prakash tries to reconcile things by using his father to convince his lover’s father and restart the wedding. Whether he succeeds or not is told in a way that is both humorous and thought-provoking in “Happy Raj.”
Performances
GV Prakash keeps the audience engaged throughout the film with his energetic performance, maintaining a “happy mood.” However, in the emotional climax scenes—especially when he remembers his father—he moves the audience to tears.
Though he has played similar roles before, he excels in expressing both anger and love toward his father with emotional depth.
Sri Gouri Priya, as the heroine, doesn’t have a very demanding role. She fulfills her part adequately—mainly involving romance and songs.
George Maryan, who plays the father, breaks away from his usual comic image and proves himself as a strong character actor. His role is powerful enough to stand alongside the hero, and his natural body language and dialogue delivery win the audience’s hearts.
Abbas, as the heroine’s father, is a fitting choice and performs his role effectively.
Geetha Kailasam, as the hero’s mother, plays a familiar role but stands out in a few unconventional scenes.
Madurai Muthu and Adhirchi Arun provide some comic relief. Devi Mahesh (heroine’s mother) and Prarthana Nathan (hero’s college love) perform their roles without flaws.

Justin Prabhakaran’s music—both songs and background score—supports the film well with commercial appeal.
Madhan Christopher’s cinematography presents the visuals in a colorful and grand manner. He pays special attention to portraying the heroine attractively.
