P.T. Selvakumar, who has been appointed as the State Trade Wing Deputy Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), is being widely appreciated by members of the film industry.
Selvakumar, who earlier served as actor Vijay’s manager and played a key role in releasing several of his films, recently joined the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. He has now been entrusted with the responsibility of State Trade Wing Deputy Secretary, and many from the cinema fraternity have congratulated him.

P.T. Selvakumar was very close to Thenandal Films and to my father, Rama Narayanan. He worked tirelessly to ensure the release of many films. He is not only hardworking but also someone who achieves things with patience and kindness. Director S. A. Chandrasekhar once told Vijay to follow Selvakumar’s guidance. My father and Karumari Kandasamy would often say that Selvakumar was a major reason behind Vijay’s growth. He has the ability to resolve even the most complicated film issues smoothly. I wholeheartedly congratulate him on receiving this post in the DMK.

P.T. Selvakumar Provides ₹50,000 Financial Aid to Selvam, Vijay’s Former Assistant
Selvam, who once worked as a personal aide to Vijay — serving him tea, juice, meals, and assisting him on sets — is currently unemployed and recovering from surgery. When he sought help during his difficult time, P.T. Selvakumar extended financial assistance of ₹50,000. The amount was received by Selvam’s wife and daughter.
Selvam said:
“This timely help means a lot. While Vijay has left me without support, P.T. Selvakumar came forward to help. He had earlier extended help during the demise of Nick Arts Chakravarthy and also supported Thadi Balaji and many struggling actors. Today, he not only gave me financial assistance but also arranged work for me in a film. Humanity has not died — it lives in the form of P.T. Selvakumar. To me, he is like God.”
The film fraternity continues to appreciate both his political appointment and his humanitarian efforts.
