The protagonist, Yuvan Krishna, an auto driver, is deeply passionate about goat fighting. Ridhaan Krishnas, a wealthy man, considers goat fighting a matter of prestige. Meanwhile, Yuvan Krishna’s goat defeats Ridhaan Krishnas’ goat in a fight, leading to enmity between the two. This results in frequent clashes and fights between the two sides. The village elders decide to put an end to their feud, which began with a goat fight, through another goat fighting competition. What happens after that? That’s the story of ‘Jackie’.
Director Dr. Pragabhal, who has attempted to realistically portray a story centered around the goat fighting competitions held in Madurai and its surrounding areas, has added great strength to the film by depicting the goat fighting scenes very close to reality.
Yuvan Krishna, who plays the protagonist, has delivered a stunning performance as a young man from Madurai, and has been spectacular in the fight sequences, much like the goat he raises. While he excels in the action scenes, he also displays mature acting in the romantic scenes with Ammu Abhirami and in the emotional sequences, proving his mettle as an actor.
Despite possessing all the qualities of a hero, Ridhaan Krishnas, who plays the villain, delivers powerful dialogues like, “I know not only goat fighting, but also how to be a rowdy,” and unleashes a fiery presence on screen. Ammu Abirami, who plays the female lead, is a fitting choice for the role and has performed her part flawlessly.
Madhusudhan Rao, Siddhan Mohan, Saranya Ravi, Padman, Yogi, Sai Dinesh, Chidambaram, Praveen, Aadhav, and Eesha are all well-suited to their respective roles and have truly embodied the people of Madurai in their performances.
Cinematographer N.S. Udayakumar has realistically captured the colors of Madurai and its surrounding areas, as well as the emotions of its people. The way the goat fights and competitions have been filmed, closely resembling reality, adds significant strength to the film.
All the songs composed by Sakthi Balaji are pleasant to listen to. The background music elevates the goat fighting competitions to a thrilling climax.
N.P. Srikanth, who edited the film’s impressive trailer, has edited the film not only impressively but also emotionally, enhancing the screenplay’s appeal.
Dr. Prakabal, who wrote and directed the film, has perfectly demonstrated how to translate real-life events into cinematic language. In particular, he has filmed the goat fights and competitions very realistically, giving the audience a unique cinematic experience.
Although the screenplay, based on the theme of goat fighting and the resulting feuds, includes elements of love and sentiment, the film’s constant action mode makes the narrative somewhat monotonous. However, the actors’ performances and the goat fighting sequences compensate for this weakness, making the film enjoyable.
