The area where the excess water from the sea does not return to the sea is called a backwater. That water remains calm without making waves like the sea.
This film tells how a family that has lost its nature by making unnecessary fuss over it loses its emotions.
Writer Damayanthi has also taken care of directing this film with her writing.
The hero Lingesh, who conducts marine research, is also a social activist. But he belongs to a lower caste.
When love develops between him and the heroine Gayatri, Gayatri’s father Isaac, who is an assistant commissioner, gives the green light to that love. But his mother Anumol, who is a racist, opposes that love and finds a groom within their own caste, an unexpected tragedy happens.
In it, Isaac and Anumol’s husband-wife relationship becomes complicated, and in order to bring harmony between the two, their family friend, psychologist Ramesh Thilak, goes on a tour with them.
The film is about what they learned and gained during that tour.
There is no fault to be found in Gayathri’s acting and beauty. It is a pity that despite the sympathy of her lover and the love of her father coming together, her life did not work out for her.
Lingesh, who spends his time in her memory, is also struggling to accept the love of his co-worker Swagata.
Isaac, who has mostly played supporting roles or villainous roles, has an emotional role as a loving father. Raghuvaran has played a wonderful role that we remember.
The whole country knows about Anumol’s acting. However, Vallia has given a villainous role.
Ramesh Thilak looks taller than his height in his refined acting. Swagata’s acting around him is also no less.
As per the title of the film, most of the scenes are shot in and around water. The scenes without water can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Therefore, all the shots taken by cinematographer Karthik unfold poetically. Justin’s music also sounds emotional. Editor Praveen’s deep editing adds strength to the character of the film.
Usually, female directors speak highly of women in their films. But in this film, it is surprising that a woman… and that too, a mother has become a villain for her daughter.
Also, all the male characters in the film are flawless… “Oh my..!”
However, the question arises whether a woman who was raised courageously by a police officer in a good family would make such a decision. I also don’t understand why the director didn’t ask that question.
