Vijay Sethupathy – Nithya Menon get married and start their married life happily within a few months, but due to the usual minor fights and incidents that occur in the families, they get separated. Have the couple, who have been separated for three months, reunited? Or not? ‘Thalaivan Thalaivi’ tells the story with extreme artificiality against the backdrop of the daily hustle and bustle of the families.
Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the role of Akasha Veeran, a loving husband and a child who cares about his mother, is shocking by acting excessively. Vijay Sethupathi, who is a master of refining his character with his unique acting, goes a little too far in this film and makes the audience angry at many places. Although Vijay Sethupathi’s overacting throughout the first half was unbearable, the fact that he reduced his acting a bit in the second half has been a great relief to the audience.
Nithya Menon, despite acting in a competitive role with Vijay Sethupathi, did not impress the audience as much as he did. Although she scored in her acting in scenes where she fights with her husband and is unable to bear his separation, it is sad that there are not enough scenes in the film to fully showcase her talent.
Yogi Babu, who plays the character of Chithirai, makes all the scenes that come up like nuclear bombs of laughter that make the theater explode with laughter. Yogi Babu, who has completely avoided making fun of characters, can be praised separately for speaking in a calm manner and making people laugh.
Saravanan – Deepa Shankar, who play the parents of the hero, Semban Vinoth – Janaki Suresh, who play the parents of the heroine, and R.K. Suresh, Kaali Venkat, Myna Nandini, Vinoth Sagar, Roshini, Sentrayan, all the stars who play other roles have added strength to the characters with their usual performances.
All the songs composed by Santhosh Narayan are hit varieties. Although it is a commercial film, the unique background music immediately attracts the attention of the audience.
Cinematographer M. Sukumar has shot the scenes colorfully. His camera has done magic in the action scenes that take place in narrow streets.
Although the scenes are long, with stars all over the screen and dialogues throughout the film, editor Pradeep E. Raghav has tried to keep it as brief as possible and save the audience.
Although Pandiraj, who has written and directed the film, has portrayed the usual family problems with a little humor, it is a bit of a weakness of the film that it does not portray them in a forceful manner. However, the only thing that hides that weakness and makes the audience happy is Yogi Babu’s comedy scenes.
The scenes of love and conflict between Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menon, and the fights between the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, are too artificial, so they cannot be fully enjoyed. In particular, Vijay Sethupathi’s excessive acting is of the “I can’t bear it, Sami…” type, and it also gives him a shock of what is wrong with him.
The problems that arise between a husband and wife can be resolved only if both of them talk from the heart, and couples who do not talk like that end up in the courtroom, and instead, without emphatically recording the fights and why they come about, director Pandiraj makes it boring at many places in the name of telling jokes.
Whether or not the advice given by director Pandiraj sticks in the mind of the viewers of the film…, the desire to eat parotta will definitely come. That’s how much they have advertised parotta.
