Parents who want their child to have everything they don’t get, to reach heights they can’t reach, don’t know what that child really wants. Such a father, Mirchi Shiva, and his wife Grace Antony, are not aware of what their child really wants, whether it’s sending their child to a big school, buying him everything he asks for, or praising him for whatever he does.
Meanwhile, ‘Parandhu Po’ is a hilarious and entertaining story about Mirchi Siva, who travels a long distance with his son on a two-wheeler due to circumstances, and how he comes to know about his son’s true desire and the life he wants to live.
While Mirchi Siva’s acting in the directorial direction of Ram was the biggest surprise, the film gives an even bigger surprise. To that extent, Director Ram keeps the film moving along in a fun manner. Although the travel-based and emotional story is not new to Director Ram, the way he has handled this same style of story is new and happy.
Mirchi Siva, who plays the father in the character of Gokul, has acted without any hesitation as always and makes us laugh with his timing. Although it is his usual style of dialogue delivery, his body language and the right place to say it make the theater vibrate with laughter.
Mitul Ryan, who plays Siva’s son, is entertaining with his age-appropriate mischief, but he also laments that it is a bit over the top at times.
Malayalam newcomer Grace Antony, who plays Siva’s wife, attracts attention with both her acting and comedy.
The screen presence and acting of Anjali, who makes a special appearance, and Malayalam actor Aju Varghese, who plays her husband, are applauded.
Although Vijay Yesudas, little Jess Kuku, Diya, Sreeja Ravi, Balaji Sakthivel, Tejaswini and some other children make a cameo appearance in the father-son journey, the audience is left in awe.
Cinematographer N.K.Ekambaram makes us understand through his camera that nature’s paradise is not in New Zealand, but in our own backyard. N.K.E.Kambaram, who has depicted everything we normally pass by, such as mountains, trees, clans, and ancient road halls, arouses the desire to take a trip on a two-wheeler after the film ends.
All the songs in the music of composer Santosh Dayanidhi touch the heart not as songs but as verses. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background music is elegant.
Film editor Madhi.V.S. has perfectly edited the father-son dialogues and the dialogues of minor characters for the audience to celebrate.
Director Ram, who has only given sad journeys as his work, has given a joyful journey as his work for the first time and makes the audience connect with the film in some way.
Director Ram, who makes us travel with the expectations of the children and their real world, makes us think that if we live, we should live a life like this, makes us laugh and enjoy every scene.
