Having a family of one wife, one son, and one daughter, Sarath Kumar, who lives on a small income, dreams of buying his own house. At the same time, he spends beyond his means on his son’s education so that his son’s life does not end up like his own. Although his attempt to buy a house fails due to many obstacles, he is confident that his son will succeed. However, his son Siddarth, who is not able to achieve much in both studies and work, is an average person, and therefore, he is unable to keep his father’s trust.
‘3 BHK’ tells the story of how a father’s dream of owning his own house becomes the dream of his son, but what happens in the end? The challenges faced by middle-class families in life are told through the challenges they face in life.
Although Sarathkumar, who plays the role of Vasudevan, is commendable for his moderate performance as it is a stressful role, the entire film is acted with a kind of tightness. Sarathkumar’s performance, which creates the illusion that everyone who thinks about their own home, economic progress, etc. will be sad and calm like this, makes it boring at some places.
Siddharth, who plays Sarathkumar’s son, has beautifully expressed the longing for not being able to fulfill the expectations of the family and the frustration caused by continuous failures. His screen presence and acting, which are made to be acceptable as a school and college student, have added great strength to the film.
Devayani, who plays Sarathkumar’s wife, although she does not speak much, has expressed the expectations of the headmistress of a middle-class family through her facial expressions and body movements.
Meetha Raghunath, who plays Sarathkumar’s daughter, and Chaitra, who plays Siddharth’s friend, have both done the job given to them flawlessly.
Yogi Babu makes you laugh even in a few scenes.
All the songs in Amrit Ramnath’s music are hummable and reflect the plot. The background music has traveled to convey the emotions of the characters to the audience.
Cinematographers Dinesh Krishnan.P and Jithin Stanislaus have depicted everything from the life of a middle-class family, the plot and the characters in a close-to-the-heart manner.
Although the story is simple, editor Ganesh Siva has interestingly edited the scenes in a way that conveys the emotions in the screenplay and the mental struggles of the characters to the audience.
Written and directed by Sri Ganesh, the film has emotionally told the screenplay that a middle-class family can relate to, keeping the theme of their own home.
Director Sri Ganesh has emphatically recorded that thinking about the future and not living the present for the sake of the journey of economic progress, including owning a home, is an act of deceiving oneself. He has presented the story that every human being goes through as a film for them to contemplate.
