Hanu-Man Will Be A Proud Movie

‘Hanu-Man’ stands as the first Indian superhero film within Prasanth Varma’s cinematic universe. Starring Teja Sajja, this monumental creation has garnered global excitement with an overwhelming reception to its teaser, songs, and trailer. The ambitious production is led by K Niranjan Reddy of Primeshow Entertainment, with Mrs. Chaitanya presenting it. As a special gift for Hanuman Sankranti, the film is set for a grand worldwide release on January 12. Director Prasanth Varma recently disclosed the film’s features in a press conference.

Q: How was Teja Sajja molded for the role of Hanuman?
A: Teja, being senior, needed no acting lessons. (Laughs) However, I orchestrated a makeover for Teja’s Hanuman character. In Zombie Reddy, he’s a city boy; here, a village lad. Once the transformation was set, there was no turning back. Teja dedicated much effort to this film, prioritizing it over others. Another film wasn’t accepted until Hanuman was completed, and Teja invested even greater hopes in it than I did.

Q: Wasn’t this film supposed to be completed in nine months? What caused the delay?
A: Initially, the VFX nuances weren’t fully understood. Zombie Reddy had 50 shots; Hanuman has 1600. Delays occurred as the VFX company couldn’t deliver on time, requesting an extension. This journey imparted valuable knowledge, enabling faster VFX production in the future.

Q: NTR made a movie called Superman. Are there any similarities?
A: In Hanuman, we pay homage to NTR’s Superman. Initially, unaware of NTR’s movie, we later incorporated Superman elements in line with it. (Laughs)

Q: Superman movie stories are almost in a template. What’s new in Hanuman?
A: Hanuman follows the superhero template but uniquely in our Telugu film style. It mirrors how Yash was portrayed in KGF, presenting Hanuman distinctively.

Q: How did you feel about casting Teja Sajja for a superhero role?
A: Teja’s personal likability aligns with the role. His lack of a mass image suits the character, creating a natural connection with the audience.

Q: Promotions in the North, how’s the response?
A: Exceptional response; South cinema is highly regarded. The enthusiasm shown by North audiences is like a dream, making us very happy.

Q: What about other characters in Hanuman?
A: Amritha Aiyer, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Vinai Rai, Getup Srinu, Satya, and Samuthirakhani contribute significantly. Each character, especially Samuthirakhani’s, holds a special place.

Q: Thoughts on producer Niranjan Reddy?
A: Niranjan Reddy is a positive and passionate producer, willing to make grand films, even considering Spanish songs if needed.

Q: The focus seems more on theaters than content. Your thoughts?
A: As a filmmaker, my focus is on content quality. Theater discussions unexpectedly arose; producers should address this. After the movie releases, content will take precedence. Hanuman is special, and if successful, we plan to make films we can be proud of for a decade.

Q: Thoughts on the next movie?
A: The next project depends on Hanuman’s outcome.

Q: Did you discuss the story with Balakrishna? Will it be in your cinematic universe?
A: Balakrishna heard the story. It can be part of the universe or standalone, depending on Balakrishna’s decision.
