Petta Movie Review

Superstar Rajinikanth is in his elements. He is very stylish with vintage mannerisms. It’s a one-man show for him. He is sparkling in both dances and fights. Every frame of the film featuring Rajini is an eye feast to his fans.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vijay Sethupathi deliver memorable performances, the film leaves us wanting more of them. Trisha, Simran, Megha Akash, Muniskanth Ramadoss, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram and others are nothing more than cameo appearances.

Karthik Subbaraj uses additional formulae of introducing each and every character at regular intervals, which keeps us excited and curious what’s their roles all about. First half is good & Second half slows down a bit. But climax is good. This film is Karthik Subbaraj’s tribute to Rajini.

Music by Anirudh is excellent. He gives western background music and it helps building up the momentum in the film. Petta is also technically strong, with Kunal Rajan’s sound design and Vivek Harshan’s edits hogging the limelight. Cinematographer Tirru’s visual gives cool look in ooty & special attraction in Madurai & Mumbai.

Petta is a Rajini fan’s delight, as we witness a lot of scenes that remind us of the Superstar from the 90’s

Rating: 3.75/5 – Rajini’s Mass Entertainer
