A storyteller, who thinks that there is no interest or adventure in the life of a middle-class family traveling in a narrow circle, decides to write a story about such a middle-class family life and people. For that, he starts meeting middle-class people and collecting their experiences. Then, his view of the middle-class people is wrong and that the life of the middle-class people, who know that they cannot move to the next level, is full of great adventure, and ‘Madras Matinee’ is what makes the storyteller understand through the ordinary life of Kali Venkat.
Kaali Venkat, who plays the hero of the story, easily sticks in the minds of the people as the character Kannan through his natural acting.

Sathyaraj, who plays the role of the storyteller Jyothi Ramaiah, who moves the entire film from his seat, has added strength to the film.
Roshini Haripriyaan, who plays the daughter of Kaali Venkat, has played a modest role as a daughter who does not give up on her father.
Shelly Kishore, who plays the wife of Kaali Venkat, has done justice to the character.
Geetha Kailasam, who played the role of Iluwachchi Amma, has played a lively and dignified role with a smiling face for the first time and has made the audience laugh in a lively and dignified way.
Kishore, who plays the son of Kaali Venkat, Archana, who plays the IT company officer, Sunil Sugatha, who plays the electricity board office officer, Sams, who plays the pickle seller, and Jangiri Madhumita are all suitable choices for the role.
The real life of simple people and their habitats has been depicted naturally by cinematographer Anand.GK
Although the songs and background music in composer K.C. Balasarangan’s music have moved slowly and quietly like the screenplay, they have moved in accordance with the scenes.
Although the film editor Sathishkumar Samushki has moved the story in a way that the audience can relate to, he has edited the scenes in a way that causes lag at some places. However, the director’s new style of storytelling makes us forget those shortcomings.
Written and directed by Karthikeyan Mani, he has respected the struggles of ordinary people and has emphatically recorded that their simple life is also an adventure.
Although the slow pace of the screenplay is a shortcoming of the film, the way the characters are handled and the new strategy adopted in the storytelling method make the audience forget the shortcomings and travel with the story and the storytellers.
