Vijay Antony–Sasi Team Introduces Music Composer Balaji Sriram Through ‘Nooru Saami’
The pre-release event of ‘Nooru Saami’, marking the reunion of director Sasi and actor-producer Vijay Antony after the success of Pichaikkaran, was held grandly in Chennai.
Produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation and directed by Sasi, the film stars Vijay Antony, Swasika, Ajay Dhishan, Lijomol Jose, Karunas, Sakthi, Kavya Anil, Balaji Sakthivel, Aruldoss, Moorthy, Jensen Divakar and others. The cinematography is by S.P. Darshan Kirlos, while Balaji Sriram makes his debut as a music composer with this film. Presented as a feel-good commercial family entertainer, the film is produced by Fatima Vijay Antony and presented by Meera Vijay Antony.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 19. The pre-release event took place at Kamala Cinemas, Chennai, in the presence of several prominent filmmakers and industry personalities including Vetrimaaran, Pa. Ranjith, A.R. Murugadoss, Charan, Lingusamy, Karthik Subbaraj, Mysskin, Satheesh Kumar, Madhan, Mandira Moorthy, V.Z. Durai, Subramania Siva, Nithilan Saminathan, Raju Murugan, producers C.V. Kumar and Dhananjayan, and composers S.S. Kumaran, Simon, and Siddhu Kumar.
At the event, debut composer Balaji Sriram was formally introduced by Sasi alongside composers Vijay Antony, S.S. Kumaran, Simon, and Siddhu Kumar, all of whom congratulated and welcomed him.
Vijay Antony said:
> “I am very happy. I have acted in many films, but after watching this film, many people told me that I had performed very well. I thank director Sasi for bringing out that performance in me. I also thank all the directors present here for helping take this film to the audience.”
The debut composer said:
> “I thank all the legends on this stage for introducing me. One day, director Sasi called me and described a situation for which he wanted a tune. That became the song ‘Amma Amma.’ He liked the tune immediately and told me I would be the music director for the film. I thank him for trusting me with such a powerful project. The guidance of Sasi sir and Vijay Antony played a major role in shaping the music.”
Vetrimaaran said:
> “Usually, directors become identified with their names, but in Sasi’s case, people remember him through the titles of his films because he approaches every project with the dedication of a debut filmmaker. Though he has decades of experience, this film feels fresh and youthful. That eagerness to connect with today’s audience is his uniqueness. The actors have delivered excellent performances, and I wish the film great success.”
Pa. Ranjith recalled his early days:
> “I liked ‘Nooru Saami’ very much, but I like Sasi even more. When I was searching for opportunities as an assistant director, he was among the first to encourage me and give me confidence. The film moved me emotionally, and I could connect deeply with many of its moments. Swasika has delivered an outstanding performance. The issues discussed in the film remain highly relevant today. I believe audiences will appreciate it.”

> “The film is based on a true story from my native region. It was not easy to make or act in such a story, so Vijay Antony deserves appreciation. The climax kept me on edge, and Sasi has crafted it brilliantly. Swasika’s performance is exceptional. She expresses pain, humiliation, and suffering with remarkable authenticity. I believe she will be among the strongest contenders for major awards this year.”
He also shared personal memories of Sasi encouraging him during difficult phases of his career and said:
> “The film talks about social justice and gender inequality in a powerful way. Even within families, men and women are treated differently. Sasi has portrayed these realities beautifully. The film became very close to my heart.”
Mysskin said:
> “Among the many ‘saamis’ (saints) I have seen in life, Sasi is one. Genuine saints are rare in cinema. For nearly 30 years, he has remained a caring and compassionate human being. What I admire most is his sensitivity and humanity. This film carries a moral core and speaks about how society treats women who are often neglected and forgotten.
Raju Murugan remarked:
> “After watching the film, I was disturbed for two days because of its emotional impact. At a time when society continues to judge women harshly, this film feels very important. It is a film about women that men must watch, and a film about men that women should watch. Vijay Antony and the entire cast have delivered wonderful performances.”
Producer Dhananjayan said:
> “I have known about this project from the beginning. Initially, another producer and actor were attached to it, but things did not materialize. Vijay Antony stepped in and made the film possible. In that sense, he is the first ‘saami’ of this project. I also strongly believe Swasika deserves national-level recognition for her performance.”
C.V. Kumar Producer C.V. Kumar stated:
“Directing films consistently for 30 years is not an easy achievement. My congratulations to Sasi. I admire Vijay Antony as a composer, actor, and producer, and I wish this film great success.”
Director Sasi revealed:
> “Vijay Antony appears only in the latter half of the film. After hearing the story, he said he would act in it even if he appeared in just one scene. Today, audiences do not judge a film based on when the hero enters. I am confident ‘Nooru Saami’ will be a successful film. The story was inspired by a real-life incident shared by a mother and son on a television reality show.”
He summarized the connection between Pichaikkaran and Nooru Saami:
> “In Pichaikkaran, a son saw his mother as a goddess. In Nooru Saami, a son sees his mother as a human being. After watching this film, people will look at their mothers differently.”

Speaking at the end, Vijay Antony said:
> “There have been three turning points in my life. The first was the opportunity Sasi gave me in Dishyum. The second was Pichaikkaran. The third is this film, which has transformed me into a lover-boy character. I hope I receive more such roles in the future. This is a very important film, especially for women.
