A grand press meet for ‘Peddi’, the upcoming rural sports drama starring Mega Power Star Ram Charan, was held in Chennai.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru, Peddi is an inspiring and emotional sports drama centered on the journey of a crossover athlete. Set against a rural sporting backdrop, the film combines action, emotions, and the struggle for success, creating huge anticipation among audiences.
The pan-Indian film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 4 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Ahead of the release, producer Venkata Satish Kilaru and the team have been actively promoting the film across the country.
As part of the promotional campaign, the team participated in a press meet in Chennai and shared several interesting details about the film.

“I am very happy to meet all of you after a long time. Just as films like Sethu, Vaaranam Aayiram, and Enthiran became important milestones in my career, I believe Peddi will also be a very significant film for me.
Director Buchi Babu has written an extraordinary screenplay. A film may be written on paper, but it is music, visuals, and powerful performances that bring it to life. Peddi brings all these elements together beautifully. I strongly believe the film will have a major impact on audiences.

From my assistant directors to every technician involved, everyone has given their absolute best for the success of this film.
I must especially talk about Ram Charan. He has completely dedicated himself to this film. Transforming from one look to another was not just about changing costumes—it involved complete physical transformation. He appeared as a cricketer in one phase, then as a rustic village youth deeply connected to the soil, and later in a completely different, physically demanding avatar. He spent countless hours training every day and worked incredibly hard to achieve these transformations.
Today, people praise his appearance, but behind that praise lies tremendous dedication and discipline. Later in the story, when his character faces difficult phases in life, he once again transformed both his appearance and performance to suit the narrative. I truly believe this will be one of the finest performances of Ram Charan’s career.
He learned every sport required for the role and followed the discipline associated with them to bring authenticity to the character.

I never imagined that someone with so much experience could be so approachable and collaborative. Whenever I wanted to try something new, he would immediately think of ways to present it even better on screen. He would suggest, ‘Let’s shoot it this way’ or ‘Let’s take another close-up shot.’ His support was a huge source of motivation for me.

“I love Chennai very much because many of the artists I admire are based here. A.R. Rahman sir, Rathnavelu sir, Devi Sri Prasad sir, and several others whom I deeply respect are from Chennai. Chennai is not just a city—cinema lives here. The people love cinema and respect those who create it.
Many senior personalities whom I admire have always spoken proudly about Chennai. Earlier, I didn’t fully understand why. But now, every time I visit, it feels like I am entering a sacred place.
One of my favorite actors, Vijay Sethupathi sir, is also from here. He acted in my first film. I thank him for always supporting me and warmly welcoming me whenever I come to Chennai.

“First of all, I would like to thank director Buchi Babu. When he narrated the role of the mentor to me, I was very happy. What excited me even more was the opportunity to work alongside Ram Charan.
I have always admired Ram Charan and his family. I have a great deal of affection and respect for him. The moment Buchi Babu narrated the story, I immediately liked it and agreed to do the film.
However, shortly afterward, I was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo treatment. I was worried that I might not be able to be part of this project. But the entire team waited for me. That gesture touched me deeply, and I will always be grateful for it.
I have known A.R. Rahman sir for many years, dating back to his days as a session musician. Later, he transformed the world of film music and created a completely unique identity for himself. While there have been many great composers, Rahman sir’s style remains truly distinctive. His Oscar win was a proud moment not just for him, but for Indian music as a whole. “About a month ago, Ram Charan visited my home. During that meeting, I reflected on something important. Many people might have wondered whether the son of a giant like Chiranjeevi could ever reach the same heights. But Ram Charan has not only matched those expectations—he has created his own identity and grown into a giant in his own right.
My son was with me that day, and I told him, ‘You can become greater than me.’ I pointed to Ram Charan as an example. Young people need such inspiring examples.
One day, Sukumar sir expressed interest in meeting me, and that is when I was introduced to Buchi Babu. He narrated the story of Peddi. At that time, I was focused on experimental projects and unconventional films. However, the energy and passion behind Peddi immediately attracted me.
In large-scale commercial films like this, actors dedicate themselves completely. Their commitment to acting, dancing, and every aspect of performance is extraordinary. These films also reach audiences across multiple languages and countries, making everyone’s hard work even more meaningful.
Ram Charan has given his all to every frame of this film. His dedication is visible throughout.
Music continues to evolve with time. From the days of Roja until today, I have witnessed enormous changes in both music and cinema. Many people may have been inspired by me, but I have also drawn inspiration from countless others.
The Telugu film industry has remarkable composers such as M.M. Keeravaani, Devi Sri Prasad, and Thaman. Over the past few years, Telugu cinema has grown tremendously. Their ambition and commitment to quality continue to raise standards. I am proud to be part of that industry.
Working on Peddi gave me the excitement of composing for my very first film. In fact, we completed the background score only this morning. Even after finishing, we kept asking ourselves, ‘Can we make it even better?’ That enthusiasm is what makes this film special.

“Greetings to all my friends from the Chennai media.
To be honest, there are moments when I don’t know what to say, and this is one of those moments. Every time I come to Chennai, I feel this way.
First of all, there are so many legends on this stage. When I stand before such great personalities, I often wonder what I can possibly say. Still, I would like to sincerely thank everyone present here, especially the media friends from Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
Chennai has always held a special place in my heart. This is the city where I was born and raised. Whether it is RRR, Magadheera, or any other film, whenever I come here for promotions, it feels like coming home. My mother was also born here, so Chennai gives me the emotional feeling of being connected to my mother’s hometown.
The entire team has already spoken about Peddi. This film took around two and a half years to complete, and we worked on it for more than 285 days. But among all of us, the person who worked the hardest was director Buchi Babu. He has devoted nearly five to six years of his life to this project.
We keep saying that we worked hard, but when you are surrounded by such talented artists, the journey never feels difficult. I would also like to thank Sukumar sir for bringing this story to us.
A.R. Rahman sir is the central pillar of this film. If all of us are pillars supporting a house, then he is the strongest pillar holding everything together. For more than ten days, he has been working until the early hours of the morning on the background score. His dedication is an inspiration to all of us.
Whenever Shiv Rajkumar sir appears on screen, he creates an incredible energy. I have watched his role in Jailer many times. Even while traveling in my car, I replay those scenes repeatedly. The way he walks slowly into a scene and his unique style have become iconic moments. His eyes alone can convey thousands of emotions and words.
What can I say about cinematographer R. Rathnavelu sir? I have worked with him on four films, including two that I produced. He is truly a legend. The visuals he created in Enthiran, especially the grand song sequences, left a huge impression on me. I often tell him, ‘Sir, please create a visual like that for me too!’
He has worked with giants such as Rajinikanth sir, Kamal Haasan sir, and director Shankar. Yet he never carries the weight of that experience with arrogance. That humility is one of his greatest qualities.
Like me, Divyenndu has given his heart and soul to this film. Audiences are going to celebrate his performance.
I did not do this film merely as an actor—I did it with love. Every day after returning home from shooting, I would talk endlessly about the day’s experiences with my friends and my mother. They would eventually say, ‘Enough! You’ve been talking about Peddi all day!’ That’s how deeply this film became a part of me.
There is a saying in my family: if I continue talking about a film even after returning home, that film usually becomes a huge success. I was like that with RRR, Rangasthalam, and Magadheera. After a long time, I find myself talking about Peddi in the same way. That gives me confidence that this film will also become a major success.
This is a film that families should watch together, especially with children. It is inspiring, emotional, and deeply moving.
