Samuthirakani plays a car driver who lives a content life with a modest family and income. Despite his simple happiness, he dreams of owning a house and a car. In his attempt to fulfill these aspirations, he falls into debt.
What begins as borrowing money for urgent needs gradually turns into a habit, as he starts using loans as a means to achieve his desires. This leads him into serious trouble.

The film “Kaarmeni Selvam” explores this through the lens of middle-class families who nurture multiple desires and suffer because of them.
Director Ram Chakri strongly conveys the message that one should not lose life in the endless pursuit of fulfillment, instead of living happily with what they already have. He realistically portrays the dreams of an average family and the struggles that arise from them, making the audience reflect.
Samuthirakani, known for his natural acting, once again delivers a powerful performance as Selvam. He beautifully expresses the emotions of a common man—hope, disappointment, inner conflict, and helplessness.
Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, playing his wife, matches his performance impressively. She effectively portrays the desires, expectations, and disappointments of a middle-class woman. Through her expressions, she conveys a mindset that values peace over material desires and tries to guide her husband toward that realization.
Gautham Vasudev Menon, as Samuthirakani’s employer, Abinaya as his wife, and child actor Karan Chakravarthy (as Samuthirakani’s son) all contribute meaningfully to the narrative.
Cinematographer Yuvaraj Dakshn visually contrasts the busy city life with the peaceful residential surroundings of the protagonist, highlighting the fast-paced lifestyle of people who have forgotten to truly enjoy life.
The music by Musicloud Studio & Technology complements the story well, with both songs and background score supporting the narrative effectively.
Editors Jagan R.V and Dinesh S, along with art director Shankar, add further strength to the film’s technical quality.
The film delivers a thoughtful message: instead of trying to imitate others’ lifestyles and possessions, one should learn to live within their means. It also reminds people—especially those working abroad in pursuit of wealth—not to miss living with their families in the process.
Although the slow-paced screenplay and slightly unrealistic characterizations may feel like drawbacks, the film’s core message stands strong. Director Ram Chakri’s effort to highlight the consequences of unnecessary desires and to convey the true meaning of life ultimately overshadows its flaws and leaves a lasting impact on the audience.
