The film “Kaar Meni Selvam”, directed by Ram Chakri, stars Samuthirakani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Abhinaya, Karthik Kumar, Padava Gopi, Madhumitha, Arjunan, Haritha Paragode, Kodhandam, Karan Chakravarthy and many others.
The cinematography is handled by Yuvaraj Dakshan, and the music is composed by MusicCloud Studio & Technology. This feel-good family entertainer is produced by Arun Rangarajulu under the banner of Pathway Productions.
As part of the promotions for the film, which is set to release in theatres on April 3, a press meet was held in Chennai. Writer Senthamizhan attended as a special guest along with the film crew. Actor Kodhandam, Creative Producer Sri Saravanan, cinematographer Yuvaraj Dakshan, music composer Ramanujam, art director Shankar, lyricist Mani Amudavan, Karan Chakravarthy, Dinesh, editor Jagan, Padava Gopi, actor Sankaranarayanan, actress Abhinaya, producer Arun, actress Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, director Ram Chakri, Samuthirakani, choreographer Harish, costume designer Swetha Lakshmi, and sound designer Raghav Ramesh were also present.
Producer Arun Rangarajulu said:

Just like only a mother can feel the pain of childbirth, the pain a father feels when he cannot fulfill his child’s wishes cannot be compared to anything. Every father carries this pain daily. Even a husband feels pain when he cannot provide for his wife. This film expresses those emotions. It also shows how men get caught in various situations due to women. Samuthirakani has performed brilliantly as a father and husband. No one has ‘acted’ in this film — everyone has lived their characters, which will help the audience connect deeply.
Also, the Tamil Nadu government should build theatres in every district with affordable tickets, no parking fees, and reasonably priced snacks. This would save many filmmakers and workers in the industry. Cinema is not just entertainment — it is a livelihood and a dream for many.”

Writer Senthamizhan said:
“I attended this event at the invitation of my friends Samuthirakani and Ram Chakri. I had the opportunity to watch the film yesterday. I would like to share some thoughts.
This film reflects a situation happening in today’s world — the mental stress faced by people working in Gulf countries. This is not caused by war, but by a social-psychological struggle.
The film raises an important question: Why do people from Tamil Nadu go abroad for work? Are those reasons justified? It asks this question in a very emotional and honest way.
Tamils have been seafarers for 7000 years. Traveling and living abroad is not new or wrong. The real question is — are you physically and mentally healthy wherever you are? If yes, that is your home; if not, it isn’t.
This applies even to people living in Chennai. Each person must answer this within themselves. If you can honestly say you are healthy and happy, then you are truly in your place.
I saw reflections of these ideas in the film. Interestingly, the director did not take these ideas from me beforehand. I met him only towards the completion of the film through Samuthirakani. I consider this divine grace.”
Director Ram Chakri said:
“It is a blessing that writer Senthamizhan spoke at this event. I consider it a privilege to be introduced through his writings.
Some actors in this film have worked with Samuthirakani in ‘School Bus’. I previously directed ‘Kurai Ondrum Illai’ under the name Karthik, but changed my name to Ram Chakri.
My first film was crowdfunded by 60 people — I thank them all.
Samuthirakani read the script and asked me whether I wanted people to live peacefully or just be wealthy. When he understood my intention, he immediately agreed to work with me without even asking about me. That trust still amazes me.
Making films with newcomers is risky. From start to release, funding is a challenge. A film must be consistently good from beginning to end to succeed commercially. I learned this and made the film without compromise.
Abhinaya brought a spiritual energy to the set. Gautham Vasudev Menon gave the film a unique presence. Music composer Ramanujam played a huge role. Cinema is a collective effort — everyone’s contribution matters.
We have also arranged for the revenue from songs to be shared with all the musicians involved — a first-of-its-kind attempt.
Samuthirakani even performed a dance in a single shot. I thank the choreographer for that. I pray that anyone watching this film who is struggling with debt finds relief.”

“Working on this film is God’s blessing. Through my friend Sriram, the script came to me. When I read it, I understood the director’s mindset. I met him and we decided to tell this story together. He has now become a very important friend in my life.

We once attended a spiritual event where ancient hymns were sung — it felt divine. We were in another world.
