Produced by S. Kamalakannan under the banner of SK Films International and directed by debutant C R Manikandan, the striking title first look of ‘Moi Virundhu’, a beautiful family emotional drama, has been released today.
The film revolves around the traditional custom of ‘Moi Virundhu’, which is still practiced in some villages of Tamil Nadu. C R Manikandan, who has worked on films like Manjappai, Kadamban, and My Dear Bootham, has directed this film.
Regarding the film’s title, director C R Manikandan said,
“When I went to a town called Peravurani, I witnessed a ‘Moi Virundhu’ event. I couldn’t believe that crores of rupees were being collected as ‘Moi’. A family can only host a ‘Moi Virundhu’ once every three years. This is because they have to repay the ‘Moi’ money they received during those three years. Only those who repay correctly receive more ‘Moi’. Through this custom, the entire village remains disciplined, and everyone receives help. This surprised me greatly, and this film is based on this custom. That’s why we have titled the film ‘Moi Virundhu’. It’s a simple and beautiful family drama that everyone will enjoy.”
Urvashi Archana, known for Balu Mahendra’s “Veedu”, plays the lead role in this film. Vijay TV fame Rakshan and Ayesha play the lead roles. Aparnathi, Deepa Shankar, Sujatha, Manasvi Kottachi, Aruldas, Namo Narayanan, Gajaraj, Thangadurai, Lollu Sabha Maran, Kicha Ravi, Muruganandam, and Kottachi, among others, have also acted in the film.
The entire film has been shot and completed in the Pannikadu area of Kodaikanal. D. Imman has composed the music for the film. M. Sukumar has handled the cinematography. With the film’s shooting completed, the final post-production work is progressing at a brisk pace.
