Produced by BTK Films under the banner of B.T. Arakumar, the preview launch of the film ‘Kailan’, directed by debutant Arul Ajith and starring actresses Shivatha and Rambha Pandian in the lead roles, was held in Chennai.
‘Kailan’, which will be released in theaters worldwide on July 25th, stars Shivatha, Ramya Pandian, Prajin, Manobala, Gnanasambandham, Abhishek Joseph, Anupama Kumar and many others. Amin has handled the cinematography for this film, and Karthik Harsha and Hari S.R. have composed the music.
Directors K Bhagyaraj, Gaurav Narayanan, producers K Rajan, and Dhananjayan, along with the film crew, attended the preview launch ceremony as special guests.
Producer B.T. Arakumar said, “First of all, I would like to express my greetings and gratitude to the special invitees who have come here.
As soon as my brother K. Rajan arrived here, he asked what the story of the film ‘Kailan’ was? Crime story? Family story? To tell the truth, I don’t know what it is. I didn’t even look at that page because of my trust in director Ajith. He said to come to the shooting site for just one day for some ritual. I went there for a few minutes for that.
Anbuthambi Arul Ajith has thought better about this film than I think. He has worked hard to bring it to the best screen epic. I have seen that every day. I also watched the preview of this film here with you.
The heroine of this film is Shivatha, a golden sister. It is rare to see her actions in cinema like her, who is always humble. She should achieve great success with this film.
I came to cinema from a theater family. My maternal uncle V K Sakthivel is a big actor in Manapparai. He worked like a brother of Kalaignanath. He has acted in films like ‘Periya Marudhu’ and ‘Mridanga Chakravarthy’.
My grandfather is also a theatre actor. In that sense, the feeling of art is in my blood. I was waiting to achieve success in the film industry one day.
When I came to Chennai in 1988-89 with the desire to become an actor, it was director T. Rajendhar who diverted me. I have told him this. But if I had expressed this desire to K. Bhagyaraj then, I would have become an actor. I have been working in the Tamil film industry since 89. But now I have produced the film ‘Kailan’ for the first time.

Music composer Karthik Harsha said, “I thank the director and producer for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to compose the songs of the film. There are a total of three songs in this film. All the songs are well composed. Hari has composed the background music of the film. This film is releasing on July 25. I request everyone to watch, enjoy and support it,” he said.

Producer K. Rajan said, “‘Kailan’ is a film produced by my son Arakumar. It is my film. Arakumar visited my Washermanpet Kamaraj Matriculation Higher Secondary School in 1991. At that time, I was the president of the Tamil Nadu Matriculation School Association. He met me and said, ‘I have come from Pudukkottai. I want to join the association.’ Then I allowed him to speak. The spark flew in his speech. Right then, I predicted that he would become a great person.
He continued to work hard and was courageous. Despite living in poverty, as soon as he earned some money, he started a political party called Dravida Vilipunarachchi Kazhagam. He ran a nursery school and a political party together. After that, I met him and advised him not to join a political party, but to join some political party. After that, I joined him in the Bharatiya Janata Party. He organized a function in Mylapore and merged his party with the Bharatiya Janata Party. After that, he became the state vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

From the day the film’s shooting began to the end, he never came to the shooting site. He came only one day to insist on our request. He gave me complete freedom to that extent. My team and I worked together and completed the film. I have not yet shown it to the producer, but I will show it soon. The producer has such trust in me. I believe that I have kept the trust he has placed in me.
I always want to be a director for producers. They have worked hard to earn it and give us an opportunity. The opportunity they give us is our life. We have to save it properly. Only then will other producers also trust us and invest in us. Only then will we be able to deliver good films.
The meaning of ‘Kailan’ is, one who does not make mistakes, one who is constant. One who achieves. This is a Sangam era word. It can be called Zero Errors and The Perfectionist. We have kept this word because it is appropriate for this story. Also, there is a surprise for everyone in the climax of the film. We have kept this word because it is appropriate for that too.
When the work on this film began, the producer told me, ‘You are going to present a commercial film. If you get a chance anywhere in it, tell a good message. Try to tell it.’ There is a message in this film. There is a message in the climax.
In my view, thriller films, especially investigative thriller films, are very patriarchal. Hence, we decided that there should be two main characters in the film, and both of them should be women. For that, we first chose actress Shivatha, after seeing her performance in films like ‘Athe Kangal’ and ‘Nedunjalai’. I am amazed.
