Produced by A&P Groups, the music and preview launch of the film ‘Akenam’, directed by debutant director Uday. K, starring Arun Pandian-Keerthi Pandian in challenging roles, was held in Chennai.
Directed by debutant director Uday. K, the film ‘Akenam’ stars Arun Pandian, Keerthi Pandian, Seetha, Shiv Pink, Aditya, Ramesh Thilak, Praveen Raja, Kalki and many others. The sound of this film has been recorded by Vignesh Govindarajan and music has been composed by Bharat Veeraragavan. Raja has worked as the art director for Devathyan’s editing work. This film, which is being touted as an action thriller, has been produced by A&P Groups. Saravanan-AK Sekar are the co-producers of this film.
The music and preview of this film, which will be released in theaters worldwide from July 4th, have been released. The film crew attended a special event held in Chennai for this.
Lyricist Karthik Netha said, “I am very happy about the Tamil title Aakenam. The director will explain the reason for this.
Director Uday came to my house and explained the context for the songs. This film speaks of a peaceful and deep feeling.
All four songs featured in this film are songs of different genres. Western music – Rock music – Indian folk music – Indian classical music – different genres of music have found their place in this film as songs. Music composer Bharath Veeraragavan is very talented.
My congratulations also to fellow lyricist Mohan Rajan, who has received the Ananda Vikatan Award for Best Lyricist of the Year.
I was a little nervous when I first met Arun Pandian sir. It was only when I continued to interact with him that I came to know that he is ‘Jalapam’. After getting to know him, he is very sweet. I also thank him for giving me the opportunity to work with him in this film.
Many new faces have been introduced in this film. This is a rare event. In today’s era, when we only hire and use those who are useful for business, it takes a lot of courage to introduce a new team.

Lyricist Mohan Rajan said, ”Thank you to producer Arun Pandian. I think this is the first time that lyricist Karthik Netha and I are on the same stage. He is my favorite poet. Lyricist. He is a master at putting modern poetry into songs. I am a big fan of the song ‘Anju Vanna Poove..’ which was a hit recently. I wish him to write for AR Rahman as well.

Director Uday- He is good at telling stories neatly. He and the music director are good at beating the enemies without hurting them. They will point out some corrections in getting the lyrics. Uday strives to make Bharat come out well. Arun Pandian, who has set the stage for them, has a big heart. If you want to introduce a lot of new faces, you need courage. There should be love.
When I met him, I wanted to be a part of your film. I said this is my only wish. Because I have loved him so much. I will still watch the film ‘Inayaintha Kaigal’. I will always watch it.
He had acted in a film called ‘Moongil Kottai’. That title really appealed to me. I have been yearning for him since I was a child.
You are telling me about the events that happened before the release of the film ‘Oomai Vizhigal’. You can make that into a story. There is so much beauty and thrill in it. Especially when you happily told me that there was a crowd at the Satyam Theater after the film was released, I could see your happiness with my eyes.
I wrote the song ‘Vazhkhai Gathageme’ after watching the scenes in which Keerthi acted in this film. She has acted very well in it. This is where they are father and daughter. There will be two different storytellers in this film. Surely you all will like this film.
Small films become big films when they are successful. The success of films like ‘Kudumbasthan’ and ‘Tourist Family’ is an example of this. This film should also be a huge success,” he said.
Speaking at the event, music composer Bharat Veeraragavan said, ”This is my first film. I salute the gurus who taught me music.
I met Arun Pandian sir for the first time with the director. He didn’t say anything at first. I told him the budget for the music for this film. He listened to it and asked if he would do it within this time. I replied yes. But in reality it was three times more than the budget I had told him. But he did it. Who would have this heart? . It was because of his support that I was able to work with many music artists. The lyricists Mohan Rajan and Karthik Netha who are here on stage have experience of writing more than five hundred songs. I would like to thank the producer once again for giving me the opportunity to work with them.
Director Uday K. is not only a friend but also a very talented person. When I saw the scenes for the background music of this film.. Keerthi Pandian’s performance as Indira in it is amazing. You have not seen Arun Pandian in any other film like this. He is dancing smartly wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
We have realized our responsibility and worked hard to create the work. There are four songs in the film. Everything is good. Please watch the songs and the film in the theater and enjoy it and support it.

I came directly from directing a short film. I didn’t have much experience. At that moment, I think it was the greatest gift I received to travel with someone who had 45 years of experience.
In the last two years, he has spent more time with us than with his family. He and I have made this film together. I assure you that it will definitely be a quality film.
The work on this film started with Keerthi. I narrated this story to her as a short film. The character of Indira is the most important in it. Whatever I kept in mind when I narrated the character of Indira to Keerthi… she has lived as that Indira in this film. That character of Indira will remain in the minds of everyone who has seen the film.

I am a fan of lyricist Karthik Netha. Whether he works in my film or not, I admire him. While working with him in this film, he gave me a new word ‘Mellaliye Mellaliye’. That song is beautiful and profound, thanks to him too.
This is the reason for the title ‘Akenam’. ‘Akenam’ is the word form of the Ayudha script. ‘Akenam’ means three dots. Apart from this, it has no other meaning. The three dots represent the three characters in the film. Since the story takes place between those three important characters, we thought this title would be appropriate. We also advised the producer about the same. He also believed in this title and gave his permission. At one point, he encouraged us that if anyone does not know this title.. we will let them know. I hope this word will also become popular after the release of this film.

Actress Keerthi Pandian said, “Four years ago, director Uday met me and told me the story of the film. Before that, he showed me the short film ‘Yakkai Thiri’ that he had directed. The way he had directed that short film… its technical quality… was excellent. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to work with him.
After that, he met me again and firmly requested that all the team members who had worked with me in that short film would also work in the film. I liked his stance a lot. The inspiration within them when working with a new team gave me hope. My father came into this film with even more enthusiasm. As a producer..
Not as an actor.. but beyond that, he showed a keen interest in the work of this film. The screenplay of the film will be in his name.
Even though my father was involved in the work of the films ‘Oomai Vizhigal’ and ‘Inayaintha Kaigal: I felt that she showed the same amount of enthusiasm and motivation in the work of this film as she would have worked with her film college students.
I have only contributed to this film as an actress. There are so many things happening around us. Accidents – wars – losses – so many things are happening. It is very disturbing.
At this time, a question always arises in my mind. What can we do about this? What can we do? The question keeps arising in my mind. The only answer I got to this is.. What can I do about this through the art I know. At least to a small extent, I have to be responsible. Whether it is the stories I choose or the characters I choose, I think I have to be responsible. That is how I have been acting. I have acted in this film as a continuation of that.
This film is not a film centered on women. It is a film. In this film, certain things happen to some characters. We have only told how that character faces that situation? How do they overcome it? It could be a man. It could be a woman. So don’t categorize this as a women-centric film.
There are different sounds and vibes in this film. I congratulate the music director Bharath Veeraragavan for this.
