A mysterious person contacts the police control room and foretells the impending danger to some people and asks them to save them. But the police are unable to save them due to not telling the correct information about those incidents. At the same time, the person who gives the information to the police also gives the information to the media. Thus, the faceless person becomes popular among the people as a prophet who knows what is going to happen in advance. Who is that person? Are the incidents he tells about an accident? Or murder? Did the police catch him? Isn’t it? That is the rest of the story of the film.
Ajmal, who plays the role of a police officer magnificently, plays the hero of the story but the twist that his role gives in the final scene is unexpected.
Dushyant and Jaiwant who play the important roles in the film are apt choices for the characters and do their job well and attract attention. Sathyaraj, who is the central character of the film but has created expectations through his voice, appears at the end of the film and receives applause. His seasoned performance adds tremendous strength to the character and the film.
Sriman, Devadarshini, YG Mahendran, Poornima Bhagyaraj, all the actors in the film have added strength to their characters with their experienced performances.
Cinematographer Laxman’s work adds strength to the film. The night scenes and live locations in the film have been shot very elegantly and the scenes have also been shot on a grand scale.
G. Balasubramaniam’s music is a pro-guard song that attracts attention. The background music is well suited to the story.
Ranjith CK’s cinematography keeps the scenes concise and elegant.
Producer B. Satishkumar has written the screenplay and directed by PG Mohan and LR Sundarapandian. It is commendable that the suspenseful action story is executed very well and also has a good message for the society.
Even though the prophetic incident and the disappointment of the police traveling towards it keeps the film moving interestingly, it is a huge logic violation that the police are unable to find the background of the series of accidents and Sriman seems to find it at the end. Together, the biggest weakness of the film is that the directors have set up the scenes with great suspense.
All in all, if you look at the film without looking at the weaknesses, Prophet is a modest film but is sure to be an interesting suspense thriller.
