Sarath Lokitas’ family has controlled the municipality of Virudhunagar district for over 40 years. Thus, the ruling party of the state plans to take over the Virudhunagar municipality, ending the respect and political influence of their family.

In the meantime Vani Bhojan is married off as the second wife of Sarath Lokitas’s son Bhawan, the municipal leader. Pawan mysteriously dies a few months after marriage, Vani Bhojan gets political ambitions. Although her husband has not openly expressed his political ambitions to the family, she plans to take over the post held by her husband. The story of ‘Sengalam’ web series vividly tells the change in the politics of Virudhunagar district due to that project and the problems caused by it.

In each part of this series, which has a total of 9 parts, the serial murders of Kalaiyarasan and his two brothers are told as a present-day story, along with the replay of the political chess game in Virudhunagar district, which keeps the series moving in a suspenseful manner.

Vani Bhojan, who plays Suryakala as the lead character in the series, has acted as a reminder of the late former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Along with that, the character reminiscent of his friend Sasikala and the way it was designed became the highlight of the series.

Kalaiyarasan who plays the other lead character Royer does justice to his character. Both Daniel and Lagubaran, who play his younger brothers, have performed flawlessly. Daniel, who has been acting in comedy roles in particular, draws attention in this character role.
Sengalam Web Series Review
The wheelchair-bound character of Sarath Lokitas, his family and their political interest reminds us of a prominent political family in Tamil Nadu. But without criticizing the family and their politics in any way, the director SR Prabhakar has put a cap on those who criticize their family politics through dialogue.

Vela Ramamurthy, Muthukumar, Gajaraj, Prem, Pooja Vaidyanathan, Viji Chandrasekhar, Journalist S.Senthilkumaran, Shali Nivekash, Arjay, Pawan, Manasha Radhakrishnan, all the actors who have acted in the series are suitable choices for the characters and make them stand out with their performances.

Cinematographer Vetrivel Mahendran has beautifully depicted the poverty of Virudhunagar district and the emotions of the characters.

Composer Taran’s background score has been well-traveled to the political chess game. Tharan has exerted his dominance throughout the series by giving special emphasis to Vani Bhojan’s flashback and Kalaiyarasan’s present story.

Cinematography by cinematographer Biju V. Donbasco is a huge strength as he tells the flashback and present day story in each episode and carries the main suspense of the series unpredictably till the end.

SR Prabhakaran, who has written and directed the series, has penned an epic political thriller centered on the relationship between Jayalalithaa and Sasikala. Although no political leaders are mentioned directly, the way the characters are designed and the dialogues make it very clear who he is referring to.

The addition of some scenes to turn a story written for the movie into a 9-part series is a bit sloppy at some places and although the presence of flashbacks along with the present story in all the parts is initially expected, at some point the fans are likely to get a bit confused as to which is the present story and which is the flashback. These two things are the only minor flaws of the series.

What is the reason for Kalaiyarasan’s series of murders? What is the background behind Pawan’s death? Vani Bhojan’s political incarnation and the subsequent twists and turns will happen in the next episode? Makes you watch every episode with anticipation.

Vani Bhojan’s doshi’s dexterity and intelligence leading to his political advancement are applauded and his every political move is dramatic and shocking.

At one point, the scenes are designed to appear as a pro-DMK series and a series to inflame AIADMK leaders, who is responsible for Jayalalithaa’s death? The courage of the director who answered the question must be appreciated.

It is a purely fictional political story, not based on any real incident
