Surviving with a wife, daughter and an old father on his deathbed, Samuthirakani works as a security guard in a private company. Due to low income, he is stuck in economic crisis. Meanwhile, Samuthirakani’s wife Vasundhara and her family plan to kill Samuthirakani’s father, who is bedridden, as well as murdering the elderly in the village.
But Samuthirakani, who refuses to do this, tries to save her father by providing him with regular medical treatment and pays for it by mortgaging the house bond. Vasundara, who comes to know about this matter, convinces Samuthirakani’s wife, who is trying to save her father, in accordance with the great confusion in the family to fight with Samuthirakani? Or did he agree to kill his father as per his wife’s wishes? Isn’t it? “Talaikathal” is emotional to say. Vasundhara is appreciated for her portrayal of reality. Vasundhara has beautifully portrayed the fight, anger and love between husband and wife.

Kadir, who plays the flashback character of Samuthirakani’s father, has given a good performance. Kathryn’s look, hair style and acting have surprised her in every way. Katha Nandi, who becomes his girlfriend, stays in his mind even though she comes for a short time
Kalaich Selvan melts his heart while lying down throughout the film. And the roles of Murugadoss and Vayapuri in other roles in the film are noteworthy.

Cinematographer Martin Taj Raj has beautifully displayed the beauty of the village and impresses upon us the feelings of the characters.

~Music composed by Kannan Narayan. The music has traveled well with the story and has beautifully described the sentiments of the characters’ heartfelt words.

Kudos to director Jaiprakash Radhakrishnan for trying to capture the heady things happening in the village. He has given a heart-touching film with only a few characters without punch lines. However, the length of the film could have been reduced.

Kadir seems to do nothing but love. At some places, the story seems to be stuck.

Overall, ‘Kaalkuthal’ is a compelling film that talks about human emotions.

Rating – 3/5
