The hero Vaibhav, who plays the role of a baboon in the play, decides to leave the theater business and go abroad to earn money as the theater industry is declining. He works as a lorry driver to pay for it. Then he gets caught by the police when he is driving a lorry containing drugs, mistaking it for a salt lorry.

And then the problems in his life, from which he recovers?, or not? The story of the film ‘Baboon’ is told along with contemporary politics and the life of the Elamites.

Playing the role of a clown in the play, Vaibhav, who perfectly fits the role of Battam and Attam, has acted naturally even in the scenes. Although there are some stumbling blocks in the action scenes, he has handled it skillfully.

The heroine Anaka, who plays a Sri Lankan refugee, has expressed the anger of Elamites through her eyes and stands in mind in the scenes where she talks about the rights of Elamites who are denied.

Alangudi Ilayaraja, who appears throughout the film as Vaibhav’s friend, adds strength to his strong character in the first film and also makes him laugh at some points.

Malayalam actor Joju George who plays the central character of the story and his performance is intimidating. However, his scenes are kept to a minimum in the film which is a huge disappointment to the fans.

Tamilarasan, who is playing the role of a police officer, has perfectly demonstrated the speed and discretion of the police in his performance.

Aadukalam Naren and Aadukalam Jayapalan, who are playing politicians, have beautifully portrayed the competitive politics of contemporary politicians.

Munnar Ramesh, Rajkumar, Kumar Gangappan, Gajaraj and other actors have done their job well.

Dinesh Purushothaman’s cinematography travels with the story and beautifully captures the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu.

Santhosh Narayan’s music makes the songs beat. He has added strength to the film with a great background score.

Director Ashok Veerappan has talked very casually about many things such as trafficking in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, cruelty to the Elamites who are refugees in Tamil Nadu by the Tamils and their rights being denied, contemporary politics.

The senior police officer said to the police officer, who was upset that he could not catch the main culprit, “If we have to arrest the chief minister and the minister, why do you care to know about our rights under the law when you study the law to file a case against us?”
Director Ashok Veerappan tear apart the rulers through many dialogues including the heroine’s asking, and has quietly voiced for the people of Eelam.

Although he has displayed the most pressing issues like international trafficking for local politics and the innocents who depend on it with the screenplay structure of a normal commercial film, the director must be appreciated for having a subject beyond commercialism in the film through the dialogues.

Although the title of the film and Vaibhav’s natural performance reduce the strength of the story, the slow pace of the first half makes the film a little weak, but the dialogues about the Eelamites and the ego contests of the politicians and the innocents caught in it keep the film interesting.
