GST forces Vishal to take back his decision

Tamil Actor Vishal speaks about GST, Piracy
The strike which was proposed by the Tamil Nadu Film Producer’s Council has been called off after the meeting with theatre owners and Tamil Film Chamber of Commerce members.

The strike was announced by the council’s president Vishal as part of his fight against various issues affecting the industry including that of piracy.

Most associations extended their support to the strike and a few movies including Jayam Ravi’s Vanamagan were postponed.

However during the discussions in the Sunday’s meeting, many producers said that they wanted to release their films before 1 July before the GST comes in to effect.

Considering that this will add an extra 28 per cent tax to the movie, Vishal announced that he has cancelled the strike.
