Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu said, ”
When you watch the preview of the film ‘Kingston’, you can see the hard work of G.V. Prakash Kumar. My congratulations to debutant director Kamal Prakasam who directed the film.
My congratulations also to Director Vetrimaaran, who is dedicated to identifying the young generation in the hamlets of Tamil Nadu who are passionate about cinema and teaching them all the techniques of cinema through the foundation, thus developing them into creative people. After the great Ilayaraja and the great A. R. Rahman, G. V. Prakash Kumar’s talent in background music shines. I produced the film ‘Asuran’. G. V. Prakash Kumar had composed the music for that film. When this film was remade in Telugu, Venkatesh, who acted in that film, suggested that the background music of the Tamil film ‘Asuran’ could be used. When I told G. V. Prakash and Vetri Maran about it, they immediately gave permission to use it without any hesitation. The film became a big hit in Telugu with G. V. Prakash Kumar’s background music. The song ‘Raasa’ featured in this film was a hit.
I asked Vetri Maran what is Parallel Universe? He replied that whatever is the highest is equivalent to it. In that way, this company will achieve great success in Tamil. I wish this company to continue producing films by identifying new young talents and giving them opportunities, and I bid farewell.
Cinematographer Gokul Binoy said, “During the shooting of Adiye, G. V. Prakash Kumar had heard a story in such a new genre. Will you work on it?” He asked. After hearing the story, I agreed. At the time of starting work on the film, there should be no compromise on the quality of this film. He expressed his desire that this work should be made at international standards. Since he is interested in learning techniques related to cinematography while working on the film, he said to use new technologies for this film. As he said, he made a big contribution in all aspects of this film, including VFS scenes- equipment- lighting system- stage.
His ambition is to continue producing films along with making this film. I thank him for that, for his continued support and for giving me the opportunity to work on this film. I would like to thank all the other actors, actresses and technicians who worked on the film at this time.”
Art director S. S. Speaking, Murthy said, “The challenge was to design a special interior for this film that combines the sea and the ship. I thank producer G.V. Prakash Kumar for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”
Director Sudha Kongara said, “I have known G.V. Prakash Kumar for 20 years. Since then, he has been saying that he wants to achieve something new. I have not seen anyone else with the same passion for cinema. He has not only said it but also done it. He continues to work in cinema as a music composer, actor, and producer. His production company is like my own production company.I see a lot of young talent here. Director Kamal Prakash’s hard work is visible on the screen. My congratulations to all the actors, actresses, technicians who worked on this film. This film will be a huge success.”
Speaking, Director Kamal Prakash said, “I have worked hard for this day for so many days. ..I have dreamed of it.. I believe that our hard work for this film will definitely speak on the screen.
I direct short films on a very low budget. But we have an idea. That idea has no budget. I have been traveling with G.V. Prakash sir for six years continuously. During that trip, one day I told him the idea about the film. Producer G.V. Prakash Kumar, who trusted me to direct a short film for 20,000 rupees, has made the film ‘Kingston’ by investing almost 20 crore rupees. For this, I first express my gratitude to him. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who worked for this at this moment.
The greatest strength of this film is its creation. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the cinematographers, art directors, editors, stunt directors, and VFX crews who have contributed with their dedication to this.
In the screenplay of this film, action is not isolated but is intertwined with the screenplay. Due to this, the contribution of stunt director Dilip Subbarayan is also significant. Due to this, we completed all the tasks of the film within the planned days and within the planned budget.
The actors who have acted in this film, Chethan, Alagamperumal, and Kumaravel, have played different roles.
I am sure that this film will appeal to all sections of the audience,” he said.Actress Divya Bharathi said, “Thank you to all the special guests who came to the event to release this preview. I am meeting the media after three years after the film ‘Bachelor’. So I am happy.
When director Kamal Prakash was telling me the story of the film ‘Kingston’, he showed me a prototype video of what kind of appearance the character should appear in on screen. After watching it, I said that I would definitely act in this film.
This is the second time I have acted with Jeevy Prakash Kumar after the film ‘Bachelor’. He is very sweet and easy to get along with. I have acted in a few films but those films have not been released yet. This film with Jeevy Prakash Kumar is being released. I am happy about this.
Director Kamal Prakash is very calm. Patient. Calm. I have never seen him talk to anyone on the set in a state of shock. This was a surprise to me. Usually directors have a lot of tension.
The shooting of the film took place for 70 days. Cinematographer Gokul Binoy never spoke to me for a day. He is careful in his work.
We kept getting soaked in water during the shooting of the film. Even if I feel a little uncomfortable because my hair is very long, my co-stars talk to me and make it normal. So I would like to thank them at this moment.
I have also acted in some action scenes in this film. Kingston will provide a great experience for the fans. Everyone should come to the cinema hall on March 7th and support me,” he said.Director Aswath Marimuthu said, “The director of the film, Kamal Prakash, is my friend. G.V. Prakash Kumar has been supporting him for the last six years. For that, I would like to thank G.V. Prakash Kumar first.
I once went to the shooting site of the film. The stage was designed grandly. I was amazed by it. I was also happy. At this moment, I congratulate and thank everyone who gave shape to the director’s imagination.
Divya Bharathi and G.V. Prakash Kumar acted well in the film ‘Bachelor’. Their chemistry was also good. I hope it will be the same in this film too.
I really like G.V. Prakash Kumar’s performance in the film ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’. G.V. Prakash would have danced in the film ‘Thalaivaa’ and in the film Vanganna Vanganna. But after that, he became an actor and is mixing things up.
Director Kamal Prakash is basically a technical genius. If there is any new technology introduced in the film industry.. Kamal Prakash is the first to know about it and share it with our group.
Although my short film ‘Muthal Mutham’ did not receive an award.. Director Vetrimaaran congratulated me at the ceremony, ‘You will become a great writer’. It was because of his wishes that I was able to write and direct the films ‘Oh My God’ and ‘Dragon’. Your wishes are the reason for my success. So I thank you for that at this moment. ” He said.
Speaking, Director Pa Ranjith said, ” From the moment the work of this film began, G.V. Prakash Kumar always talked enthusiastically about the film. That is why this film will be a huge success. I thank G.V. Prakash Kumar for giving a chance to a first-time director without worrying about the budget.
Trusting an artist is very important. Trusting in a new concept. Especially, making a film relying on a VFX team is a challenge. I once asked GV Prakash Kumar about the VFX budget. But the quality of the film is higher than the budget they told me.
He always thinks that he should somehow bring this to the people. I knew after watching the preview that it would definitely provide a theatrical experience. The actors.. visuals.. music.. everything was magnificent.
In today’s environment, there is a big challenge in making and releasing a film in Tamil cinema. People want such content-oriented films.
When working with GV P… he will understand exactly what we want to say and work. That is his uniqueness. This is what creatives like me need. This makes me happy. He has put his trust in this team and made this film. So I wish this film a huge success.Congratulations to debutant director Kamal. There are many restrictions for a first-time director. Many people have some restrictions when directing their first film and their second film. I see it as an important thing for you to work on such a huge budget film with the experience of directing a short film. My congratulations to everyone who worked on this.
We have seen that small budget films – content films attract a large number of fans in theaters. The success of films like ‘Kudumbasthan’ and ‘Dragon’ is the best example of this. Even though there are challenges in making small-budget films… even though there are challenges in releasing them… even though there are challenges in selling them on OTT platforms… the only hope for producers is theaters. For this, I express my gratitude to directors like me, producers, Tamil cinema, and fans who have given them great hope,” he said.
Speaking, Director Vetrimaaran said, “G.V. Prakash Kumar will always work enthusiastically without getting tired. This is his special mark. Any director.. at any time.. would contact him to meet him, he would immediately contact him and give the right answer. He never refused to work. This can be said to be his unique talent.
After working as a music composer for ten years, he wanted to act. At that time, I asked him why he suddenly wanted to act, since my music work was going well. Working in one room is tiring. He said I want to come out and work.
But after he came to act, his musical talent expanded further. Since he himself became an actor, he was able to improve his music easily. Not only that, but he is always ready to learn. In this film too, he is improving himself as an actor and a music composer.A few days ago, he suddenly called me and said that I was going to be a producer. After congratulating me, I asked who the director was. A new director. He said that this is a sea fantasy genre film… This is the first in India without losing enthusiasm. He had so much faith in this film.
I had gone to see a huge stage designed for this film. That stage was truly amazing. The sea waves, the boat, the rain, the snow… They explained its movement technically. After seeing all this, I did a calculation in my mind and asked what the budget was. They said that its budget was 10% of the budget I expected. I was really surprised. A huge stage on a small budget. Thank you to everyone who worked for this.
As the actors mentioned, acting in this huge stage is difficult. It is challenging. Their hard work… is enjoyable on screen.
G.V., who has given such dedicated work as a producer, actor and music composer, Congratulations to Prakash Kumar and the director who is worthy of his trust.
This is basically a technical creation. The technicians have worked brilliantly. The commercial success of this film will help a producer like G.V. Prakash Kumar, who is passionate about cinema, to make many more products. I congratulate the entire team,” he said.
Producer-musician-actor G.V. Prakash Kumar said, “Director Vetrimaaran is like a mother in our house. Mother always warns us about the safety of our children.
After that, he will show us the way. Even though I initially refused when I told him to act.. but after that, it was Vetrimaaran who sent me for acting training. He and I have been traveling together for 18 years.
I have worked with Thanu sir on two films, ‘Theri’ and ‘Asuran’. Both were successes. So he is a producer who is dear to me. Currently, we are also associated with ‘Vaadivasal’.
Director Sudha Kongara – He is also my friend for 20 years. When he was an assistant to Mani Ratnam…I was an assistant to A. R. Rahman. He has stage fright and never comes on stage. He came here on my invitation. I also express my gratitude to him.I have been traveling with Pa Ranjith for the past two years. I have acted in a film produced by him. I composed the music for the film ‘Dhangalan’. It was an unforgettable experience. He elevates his assistants to directors. So whenever I work with him, I get a new enthusiasm.
Director Kamal never makes any changes on the set when actress Divya Bharathi is acting. This was a surprise to me. It was only after that I came to know that his wife’s name is also Divya Bharathi. It was only after that I came to know the love he has for his wife.
This is a big dream. We watch films like Harry Potter released in Hollywood. I think why can’t we make something like this. When they take the story of their grandmother, we thought that we can take the story of our grandmother. Kingston is a story like our hometown grandmother’s story.
A fantasy. It has to be told from our own storyline. That is, what will our hometown Harry Potter be like? Such thoughts came to my mind when Kamal told me the story.
Zee Studios joined this film. They gave their full support. For this, I would like to thank Akshay and Vinoth at this moment. They are also a part of our dream.
I would also like to thank Kamal Haasan for directing the first scene of this film. I have started a production company with him. I told him that I wanted you to direct the first scene of the first film that will be produced by our production company. He also came and directed it immediately without any objection. I would like to thank you for this.
Also, Zee Studios, VFX Team, Dileep Subbarayan, Nirav Shah, Gokul Binoy, S. S. I would like to express my gratitude to many people including Murthy, Shaan Lokesh, Poornima, lyricists, choreographers, Gopi Prasanna, Singh Cinema, Sarigama, Alagam Perumal, Chethan, Kumaravel, Sabumon, Antony, Arun, Rajesh, Divya Bharathi, Yuvaraj, Deepik, Venkat Arumugam, Dinesh Guna, Kamal Prakash, etc., he said.
