The film revolves around the lifestyle, historical background, social struggles and fight for rights of the Narikuravar community. The story centres on a member of the Narikuravar community who enters politics and eventually rises to become a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Blending social awareness with comedy and family emotions, the film aims to deliver a meaningful message to audiences.
During the audio launch event, the director, producers, actors and technical crew shared their experiences and spoke about the film’s making and its underlying message.
Director K.V. Kathirvelu
Speaking at the event, director K.V. Kathirvelu said:
“We conducted extensive research to understand the history and background of the Narikuravar community before developing this film. The movie addresses issues such as social inequalities, the respect given to people in positions of power and the discrimination faced by others. Along with the history of the Narikuravar community, the film also explores political aspects.
‘ Singaram’ has been made as a film that combines strong social messages with entertainment that families can enjoy together. I request everyone to support this film.”
Yogi Babu
Actor Yogi Babu expressed his gratitude to director K.V. Kathirvelu and producer Ramana Balaji for giving him the opportunity to be part of the film.
“I would like to thank director K.V. Kathirvelu, Ramana Balaji and everyone who gave me this opportunity. I would also like to remember the late actors Manobala and Marimuthu. Manobala sir was always supportive of me.
The encouragement and confidence shown by the team in trusting me with such a character mean a lot to me. ‘Singaram’ will be released in theatres on October 30. I request everyone to watch the film in theatres and extend their support. Thank you.”
Producer A.S. Ramana Balaji
Producer A.S. Ramana Balaji spoke about his 27-year journey in the film industry as a dancer and choreographer.
“I have been travelling in the film industry for 27 years as a dancer and choreographer. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. The growth of Rock Productions is the result of the hard work and cooperation of many people.
The purpose behind a creative work is very important, and artists should continuously be given opportunities. A film can change the mindset of audiences and inspire them in their journey through life.
‘ Singaram’ has been made after overcoming several challenges. The contributions of the director, actors and technicians have been significant. In particular, Yogi Babu supported me on several occasions. I have complete confidence that this film will be a success. Thank you.”
Divakar
Delivering the vote of thanks, Divakar expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the making of the film.
“I would like to thank my uncle Karthikeyan, my family members and director K.V. Kathirvelu, who were instrumental in bringing this film to life. Producer Ramana Balaji’s encouragement and support played an important role in making this project possible.
I will never forget the guidance and support extended by the late actors Marimuthu and Manobala during the shoot. The dedication of artists such as M.S. Bhaskar, along with the contributions of music composer Sam C.S., cinematographer Prasanna S. Kumar, editor Lawrence Kishore, and the entire technical team, has given the film a distinct identity.
Yogi Babu stood by us at every stage of the film. I request journalists and everyone else to extend their support towards the film’s success. Thank you.”
Actor Padava Gopi
Actor Padava Gopi said that releasing a film properly and taking it to audiences was often more challenging than making one.
“Taking a film to audiences through the right release strategy is more challenging than producing it. During a time when dancers and choreographers were not given adequate recognition, Ramana Balaji worked towards developing the dance industry into a more organised professional sector. He deserves appreciation for that.
I am happy that the producers have ensured that ‘Singaram’ is being brought to theatres through a proper release plan. Director K.V. Kathirvelu has beautifully captured the lifestyle of the Narikuravar community and the social circumstances of that period. I am sure audiences will appreciate his work. My best wishes to the entire team.”
Actor Java Sundaresan
Actor Java Sundaresan appreciated the filmmakers for choosing a socially relevant and emotionally engaging subject.
“Congratulations to the producers and director for choosing and creating a story that has not received much attention so far. I have watched director K.V. Kathirvelu’s ‘Rajavamsam’ and was impressed by it.
Yogi Babu’s acting talent and his willingness to help others are admirable. The song composed by Sam C.S. is very emotional and touching. My best wishes to the entire team.”
Actor K.M. Ganeshkar
Actor K.M. Ganeshkar spoke about the efforts taken by the cast and crew to portray the Narikuravar community authentically.
“The team prepared themselves with appropriate costumes and jewellery to realistically portray the appearance of the Narikuravar community. We performed our roles by completely immersing ourselves in the characters.
The dedication of artists such as M.S. Bhaskar deserves special mention. Yogi Babu always offers advice and encouragement to fellow actors working alongside him. The director has clearly presented the history and background of the Narikuravar community in the film. I wish the film great success.”
Art Director Gururaj
Art director Gururaj expressed his happiness about being part of the project.
“Director K.V. Kathirvelu has beautifully crafted ‘Singaram’. I was happy after watching the trailer, and I am delighted to have been associated with this film. My best wishes to the team for a grand success.”

She explained that even after returning home from the shooting, the influence of the dialect continued to stay with her.
She also recalled learning several valuable lessons from the late actors Manobala and Marimuthu. She thanked the entire team and requested audiences to watch the film in theatres and support it.
Actor N.J. Sathya
Actor N.J. Sathya, who had previously worked as a technician, spoke about his efforts to establish himself as an actor.
He thanked Yogi Babu for giving him the opportunity to act and appreciated his willingness to help other artists secure opportunities in films.
He added that working alongside experienced senior artists had helped him learn many new things. He requested audiences to support Singaram, which combines comedy with emotionally engaging moments.
Actor T.S.R. Srinivasan
Actor T.S.R. Srinivasan praised Yogi Babu’s performance as a Kuravar character in the film.
He remarked that watching Yogi Babu’s performance gave him the feeling of seeing the legendary M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) on screen again after a long time.
He also mentioned that director K.V. Kathirvelu had worked hard for 15 years to reach this stage. Emphasising the importance of recognising experienced artists, he said that performers should receive proper remuneration and recognition for their work.
He further stated that providing artists with structured employment opportunities would help Tamil cinema achieve greater heights internationally.
Special Guest R.V. Udayakumar
Speaking as the special guest, filmmaker R.V. Udayakumar appreciated the socially relevant theme of Singaram, directed by K.V. Kathirvelu, who comes from a Communist family background.
He praised the film’s storyline, which revolves around a member of the Narikuravar community entering politics and eventually becoming an MLA.
He also appreciated Yogi Babu for maintaining his simplicity despite rising to prominence as a leading actor. R.V. Udayakumar congratulated music composer Sam C.S., producers Ramana Balaji and Divakar, and the entire team.
