The trailer launch event of the ZEE5 Original Series “Warrant,” starring Prashanth Pandiaraj, was held grandly

The upcoming Tamil crime thriller web series Warrant, presented by ZEE5, has created huge anticipation among audiences.

The series has been produced by Prashanth Pandiaraj, P. Vishal, and P.M. Atheeswar under the banners of Sivan Pictures and S Studios.

Director Prashanth Pandiaraj, who gained attention through Vilangu and Maman, plays the lead role in this series. The screenplay has been written by Prashanth Pandiaraj along with Vignesh Natarajan, who has also directed the series.

With the series set to premiere on ZEE5 from the 22nd of this month, the trailer launch event was held in the presence of the press and media along with the cast and crew.

Speaking at the event, actor-director Prashanth Pandiaraj, who debuts as the protagonist, said:

“After Bruce Lee, when we had nothing going on, we made ‘Vilangu.’ The support you all gave ‘Vilangu’ gave us a huge identity. You were the reason for the great reception the series received. Like ‘Vilangu,’ I’ve now received another opportunity. This time, I’ve transformed into an actor. I hope you all will extend the same support. Thanks to my family, my team, my friends, and everyone.”

Director Vignesh Natarajan said:

“My parents and Prashanth were the only ones who believed I would direct a project. This series is something Prashanth and I wrote together. I forced him to act in it. He worked alongside me like a co-director, and I’m thankful for that. My thanks to my mentor Pandiraj sir. I believe everyone will like this series. This is my first creation. Please support it. Thank you.”

ZEE5 Series Head Sham said:

“We are working with the goal of releasing one quality series every month. Thank you for the support audiences have given us recently. In that lineup, ‘Warrant’ is a very important series.”

“‘Vilangu’ started as a small series, but we realized it contained many stories and characters within it. It became a separate world. We wanted to develop this story back in 2023, and many discussions happened continuously. ‘Vilangu’ does not end with one story — its continuations will keep coming. ‘Warrant’ is the backstory of an important police character who will appear in ‘Vilangu 2.’ It tells how an ordinary man transforms into a powerful police officer.”

“We are happy to introduce Prashanth as a hero for the first time. Even though it is connected to the ‘Vilangu’ universe, this will still be a unique journey. I believe everyone will enjoy it.”

Actress Sayadevi said:

“At first, I refused to act in this series. But when Prashanth asked me, ‘I’m acting as the hero — won’t you support me?’, I immediately agreed. Now he truly shines as the hero of this series. Congratulations.” She added humorously, “‘Vilangu’ and ‘Maman’ were celebrated, and in the same way, ‘Warrant’ will definitely attract audiences. Whether you like it or not, directly share your opinions with Prashanth.” She thanked everyone.

Actor Vaiyapuri said:

“This is my first web series. What I liked most about this unit was that everyone worked together like friends. There was no ego at all, and the atmosphere was very fun.” He also said he hopes to continue working in more good series on ZEE5.

Actor Aruldoss said:

“‘Vilangu’ earned Prashanth a huge reputation, and ‘Warrant’ has been created as an extension of that success. Though this is a police story, it portrays police life in a way not usually seen in cinema.”

“Prashanth has acted naturally as an ordinary police constable, making it easy for audiences to connect with him. I wish him continued success not only as an actor but also as a director.” He further added that the team has many police-related stories, so “Warrant” may continue in multiple installments.

Actress Poornima Ravi said:

“There is nothing called ‘hero material.’ Whoever carries a story forward is the hero, and Prashanth sir has that ability.”

“Even off-screen, Prashanth sir is someone women really like. After this series releases, he will gain a huge fan following on-screen too.”

The entire “Warrant” event reflected the friendship, unity, and confidence the team has in Prashanth. The crew expressed confidence that this expansion of the “Vilangu” universe, with its realistic police narrative, would receive a huge response from audiences.

Producer Kumar said:

“I have read the entire story. My wishes to Vignesh for excelling as a director. I’ve known Prashanth since ‘Maman.’ He strongly insisted that I read this story. At that time, I didn’t know he would act in it himself. It’s an excellent story. He has already committed to four more films. I too would like to request a project from him. I wish him great success.”

Actor Bose Venkat said:

“A hero doesn’t need a specific appearance or form. The story itself is the hero. Prashanth has the ability to deliver that properly. My wishes to him and to director Vignesh.”

Director Ramkumar said:

“Prashanth is a good friend and a talented director, and now he has become an actor too. He always has uniqueness in him. I even had plans to cast him in my film ‘Parking.’ Just as he succeeded as a director, he will succeed as an actor too. No one who watched ‘Vilangu’ could have disliked it. Likewise, ‘Warrant’ will impress everyone. I’m eager to watch it. Congratulations to everyone who worked on it.”

Director Tamilarasan Pachamuthu said:

“Prashanth is my friend. He was supposed to act in my film too, but I think he avoided it because he already had plans to become a hero. ‘Vilangu’ was a series loved by everyone in Tamil cinema. It taught us how much detailing should go into making a project. I believe ‘Warrant’ will also become a great series.”

This rural-based series focuses on the hidden side of the police force and the dark face of authority. Inspired by real incidents, the series explores mental stress, abuse of power, and psychological transformation in an intense manner.

The central character of the series is a policeman named “Kottai Karuppasamy.” Starting as an ordinary constable, he gets trapped in social humiliation, pressure from authorities, and various criminal situations. While investigating old warrant cases, his mindset and actions slowly begin to change. The series highlights the moments when a man meant to protect the law becomes a threat to the law itself.

A lock-up death incident completely changes the course of the story. After that, the conflict between truth, lies, authority, and justice drives the narrative forward. “Warrant” is seen as an attempt to realistically portray the psychological transformation of a police officer.

The series stars Balaji Sakthivel, Kaali Venkat, Aruldoss, Namritha MV, Aruljothi, Sayadevi, Hello Kandasamy, Meena, Kausalya, and Vaiyapuri in important roles. Music has been composed by Sam C. S., cinematography is by Ashok Kumar, and editing is handled by R. Ramar.

With its close-to-reality portrayal of rural police stations, local politics, abuse of authority, and the dark side of human nature, the series is expected to receive a strong response from fans who enjoyed realistic crime dramas like Vilangu.

Warrant will premiere on May 22 on ZEE5.
