“Mr. X”, produced by Prince Pictures’ S. Lakshman Kumar (known for films like Sardar and Lover) in association with Maverick Movies’ Vineet Jain, stars Arya in the lead role. Gautham Ram Karthik, Sarathkumar, and Manju Warrier play key roles. The film also features Anagha, Athulya Ravi, Raiza Wilson, Sanjana Singh, Kaali Venkat, and Jayaprakash among others.
The film is written and directed by Manu Anand, who previously directed FIR.
With the movie set to release on April 17, the trailer launch event was held at Palazzo Theatre, Vijaya Forum Mall, Vadapalani.
Producer S. Lakshman Kumar thanked the entire team and expressed satisfaction with the film, calling it a grand project with a strong cast and technical crew. He also thanked Maverick Movies and partners like Jio Hotstar for their support.
Cinematographer Arul Vincent said the team worked beyond their pay, like true laborers, despite the film looking stylish like a Hollywood production. He mentioned challenging shooting conditions in places like Azerbaijan and highlighted that many action scenes were shot in single takes. He also praised Manju Warrier’s ease in performing action sequences.
Music composer Dhibu Ninan Thomas shared that after a long wait, the film is finally releasing, and he has experimented with a new level of background scoring in this project.
Editor Prasanna revealed that the film is based on multiple real-life incidents from different time periods in India, presented through an engaging screenplay.
Raiza Wilson said the film is politically relevant, intelligent, and addresses serious themes. She believes such films are necessary and should be made more often.
Athulya Ravi expressed gratitude to the director for trusting her with a different role and giving her the chance to work alongside a big star cast. She called it a great learning experience and said the film will offer a strong theatrical experience.
Anagha shared that working with such talented actors and technicians was a valuable experience and described acting alongside Manju Warrier as a dream come true.
Sarathkumar said the film is timely and based on real incidents. He was impressed by the director’s research and preparation. He plays a unique role in his 172nd film, sporting a white-haired look. He praised Arya and Gautham Karthik for their dedication and highlighted that the film brings attention to unsung heroes like spies who work secretly for the nation.
Manju Warrier said she took time to understand the script before agreeing to the film, as it deals with a world unfamiliar to everyday life. She appreciated the depth of each character and mentioned performing more action scenes than ever before, even sustaining minor injuries during filming.
Gautham Ram Karthik thanked the team for trusting him and appreciated Arya for his encouragement on set. He highlighted the strong action elements in the film and praised the stunt choreography and music.
Director Manu Anand clarified that “Mr. X” is not a pan-Indian film but a Tamil film made with that intent. He revealed that the story is inspired by seven real-life incidents from India. He emphasized that the film focuses on the unseen lives of spies, whose identities remain unknown even to their families. He also denied comparisons with other films, stating that similarities are limited to real-event inspiration.

Arya said he initially doubted whether such a big-budget film could be made with him but trusted the story and the team. He praised director Manu Anand as a perfectionist and appreciated the technical crew, especially the cinematographer, editor, and music composer.
He highlighted Gautham Karthik’s role as very important and said audiences would especially appreciate his performance. Arya also spoke about Sarathkumar’s dedication, Manju Warrier’s brilliance, and the commitment shown by the entire cast.
