Stand-up comedian, Bigg Boss fame, and digital star loved by the younger generation, actor Vikkals Vikram is making his debut as a lead hero with the film “Light Weight Baby.” The title launch event of the film was held grandly in Chennai.
Directed by K. C. Guru, “Light Weight Baby” stars Vikkals Vikram and fitness model Aarthi Krishna in the lead roles. The film’s cinematography is handled by Pramod Kodiyan, with music composed by Saravanan Subramaniam.
This romantic comedy is produced by Hitha Studios, with Sagar Sandesh and G. Thimma Reddy serving as co-producers.
The title launch event took place in Chennai with the presence of actor Vikkals Vikram, actress Aarthi Krishna, and director K. C. Guru.
Speaking at the event, Vikkals Vikram said:
“Thank you to everyone who has come here. I’m starting this event like a stand-up comedy show—if there are jokes in between, don’t forget to laugh. I feel a bit nervous standing on this stage for the first time. This will also be a thanksgiving event.
In 2016, I was a theatre artist. Later, I became popular among audiences through social media content. I am a quiet artist, and like me, my fans have supported me quietly and took me to the finals of Bigg Boss. I sincerely thank them for that.
Bigg Boss changed my life. Earlier, people saw me only as content. Fans who met me didn’t even know my name but showed love. After Bigg Boss, they started seeing me like a member of their own family. That’s the power of the show.
While I was inside the Bigg Boss house, people followed me daily and started loving me. I became like a son to many families. They took selfies and spoke to me with affection and concern. It made me happy and also surprised me.
Now fans follow my social media page ‘Vikkals’ and ask me what I’m doing with genuine care.
I actually like being disturbed by fans—even if it sounds silly!
My father didn’t know anything about the internet. Initially, my friends and I used to shoot reels from my bedroom and upload them.
Every day, my father would only see us staying in the room all day and me being tired afterward.
We once made a reel for the song ‘Nilavai Kondu Vaa’. It went viral. Within minutes, it got 10,000 views, then 1 lakh, and soon crossed a million. Actor S. J. Suryah and Simran shared their thoughts about it. Suddenly, music director Deva called me and thanked me for popularizing the song again. I was emotional and told him he is a legend. That song may have changed many lives—but it definitely changed ours.
We gave interviews to many channels, and my father watched all this in surprise.
But he never knew I was a good actor or a thinker. To him, I was just someone who bunked college classes. Only after Bigg Boss did he realize I can act.
Today, I am acting in a film as a hero—after 10 years. We are about to reveal the title of that film.
I’ve attended many audio launches where heroes praise directors and vice versa. I only recently got to know my director. When I asked what we should speak at the event, he said there’s nothing much to say. So we decided to present this like a stand-up comedy show and reveal the title.
Earlier, I was only offered character roles. After Bigg Boss, I received a message on Instagram saying I should act as a hero. I thought it would be a short film—but it turned out to be a feature film. I was shocked. Thanks to director K. C. Guru for this opportunity.
In 2016, I had a dream of becoming a hero—but it stayed hidden in the back of my mind. I was even ashamed to say it out loud. Today, that dream has come true, and I feel very happy.
The title of our film is ‘Light Weight Baby.’
The poster has a mic, a stand, and weights. This is a love story between a stand-up comedian and a female bodybuilder—that’s why I became the hero of this film.
More interesting than the title is the heroine—Aarthi Krishna.
