Produced by Mahesh Selvaraj under MR Motion Pictures, the film “Yolo” is a light-hearted romantic comedy genre film directed by S. Sam, starring newcomer Dev in the lead role.

I came to this festival without knowing anything. It is only after arriving that I realize that this is my family festival. I have known hero Dev since I was a child. I only knew him as Poornesh, he has changed to Dev for the film. His uncle Delhi Babu was one of the best people in the world. He knows no evil, he only does good. A producer who has created the best directors and the best works. Time has separated him from us. He has said many times that he wants his son to be a hero. Today, I am happy that that wish has come true. His blessings are always with you.
I don’t know what “YOLO” means. I heard it only after coming here — they said You Only Live Once. It is true, we only live once, let’s live it beautifully.
Everyone is young in this film. Everyone has given their full effort. Sakishna has come with 6 songs already. She has worked with directors like Sam, Samuthirakani, Aamir, that speaks volumes about her talent.
My salary for my first film is only ₹14,000. But for the next film, the salary is ₹1 crore. So don’t worry about the salary for the first film. The budget of the first film is your salary. Because if a producer trusts me and invests ₹1 crore, that is my salary. Only if you, the directors, think like that, can you get a salary of ₹1 crore in the next film. All of us who attended this ceremony have a reason. But thanks to my brother R. K. Selvamani who attended with great generosity and without any reason.
He is the reason why the name “Captain” became permanent for revolutionary artist Vijayakanth. He gave the film Captain Prabhakaran, which continued to run even after his death. If it is still being screened today and is a huge success after all these years, it is because of the quality of that film.
Since my first film Maunam Baaghi, many assistant directors have left me. I don’t even know the names of half of them. If I say, “Sir, I worked with you,” I would say, “Oh, okay.” Because he has only worked in one schedule. He will not be in the next schedule. There are about 30-40 such people. But the successful ones are very few. Sam is one of them.
Everyone was talking about Kani. He is a gentle person. He never scolded anyone on the set of Paruthi Veeran. Now it is awe-inspiring to see him as an actor. My heartfelt congratulations to him for his growth.
I don’t know much about the hero of this film. Generally, there is a proverb that says: “If you feed and nurture a child, will the child grow?” His uncle has introduced many new directors. Saravanan, who made Maragatha Nanayam, Sathish, who made Bachelor — it is because he introduced all these that Dev has become a hero today through a producer named Mahesh.
Dev said that his father and mother are not on this stage, and he wished they were there. Life does not happen the way we think. If it happens the way we think, then it is not life at all. Generally, they say — if there is no obstacle in the path you are going, it is not the path for you. If there is an obstacle in the path you have put, it will be your path only if you fix it.

First of all, I would like to thank my father and mother. It is because of them that I am standing here today. Aamir sir is like a lion. It was challenging to work with him. He is a hard worker. I learned from him that the producer’s money should not be wasted. It was because of him that I got the courage to make a film with new faces.
Whenever I was tired, Aamir sir and Kani sir encouraged me. They have helped me a lot till now.
Kani sir does not waste any moment. I learned that from him. He would say, “You should always keep moving.” He was a big supporter of this film.
