When the hero Rangaraj is born, his father is murdered by mysterious persons. When he grows up, his mother is also murdered. The hero, who lost his mother and father at a young age, studies and becomes a police inspector. While his wife is living happily as a girl child, his wife is brutally murdered. The hero, who lives a life of self-destruction after his wife’s death, comes to know the truth about who killed his wife. What did he do after that? Why was his wife murdered? Who did the murder? The answer to these questions, along with the background of the hero’s father’s murder, is ‘Cuts’.
Debutant actor Rangaraj, who plays dual roles as father and son in his first film, has shown his mettle in all areas of romance, sentimentality and action.
He is as passionate in love scenes as Surya in ‘Kaakka Kaakka’, and cries in front of his wife’s corpse as Kamal in ‘Vedaiyaadu Vaidyaadu’. He walks around in the role of father with a big moustache and aruval and shows action in the fight scenes, and reminds us of ‘Paruthiveeran’ Karthi with his punches in the stone shop. Overall, Manushan has acted with the idea that the entire film should be filled with his acting alone.
Shruti Narayanan, who plays the role of father, has done her job as a village woman to the fullest. Nancy, who plays the role of son, is also no slouch in her performance.
Delhi Ganesh, who plays the senior policeman, is old in his acting and dialogue delivery, and he seems to be acting with difficulty.
Sai Deena, who plays a character role, Birla Bose, who plays the police sub-inspector, Srilekha, who plays the hero’s mother, and Aranthangi Nisha, who plays the female policeman, have acted in other roles.
Cinematographer Manoj has worked according to the storyline and the budget.
The songs in the music of composer Jose Frankel are listenable. The background music also travels according to the scenes.
Although there are two stories, the lives of a father and son and the problems they face, and although editor Ranjith has edited them properly, the screenplay could have been made to travel a little faster.
Rangaraj, who plays the hero, has written and directed the story. Although it is a typical revenge commercial action film that we have seen in various periods of cinema, he has tried to tell it in a lively way with some changes and many twists.
Rangaraj, who has been riding the double horse of director and hero in his first film, has designed the scenes, acted in many baddies and scored them to prove his talent as an actor. If he had paid a little more attention to the screenplay as he did as an actor, he would have scored as a director as well.
