The hero Gavin travels with the dream of becoming an actor since his school days. Father Lal supports his dream in the hope that his son will do what he cannot. But to his mother’s disapproval, Gavin pursues his acting dream and ends up studying engineering. When he gets a chance to remember his dream, time turns his life upside down.

When there is no chance to become an actor anymore, Gavin, who continues his dream journey and says that he will succeed as an actor by changing it, has he succeeded in it? Isn’t it? It is ‘Star’ that tells the youth in an encouraging way.

Perfectly suited to the character of Kalaiyarasan, who wants to become an actor in the cinema, Gavin has acted emotionally and traveled strongly to the screenplay. He who is amazing about dance and love during his college days, he is crawling in the scenes of waiting for opportunities and being deceived, living in the streets of Mumbai without money and struggling with life, struggling for his dreams. In scenes where he can no longer pretend to be happy and screams at his wife to leave me, Gavin drops all his gimmicks and squirms, evoking memories of those who have lost their dreams due to family circumstances.

Both Preethi Mukundan and Aditi Bohankar who are playing the heroines have been given equal opportunity in the screenplay. Both of them have made the most of the given opportunity and have emphatically registered their presence on screen.

Lal, who plays Kavin’s father, impresses with a natural performance, but stumbles a bit in his dialogue delivery. Moreover, some of the Tamil words he speaks are incomprehensible. Geetha Kailasam, who plays Kavin’s mother, could have avoided overacting at some points.

Maran, Kadhal Sukumar, Nivedita Rajappan, Thibs, Raja Rani Pandian, Sanjay Swaroop, Dheeraj and other actors have been used in the script.

Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja makes the songs repeatable. Especially, the songs in the 80’s style. Although the background score falters at some places, it is the lifeline of most scenes of the film.

Cinematographer Eshil Govt.K’s camera has brought the multi-evolutionary performance of the actor Gavin to the fans very elegantly. The angles and colors of the cinematographer Eshil Govt, who gradually moves the story from the late 80s to the present time, have added great strength to the screenplay.

Cinematographer Pradeep E. Raghav has neatly packaged the director’s interests, but could have avoided moving the script too slowly. The work of art director and costume designer attracts attention.

All those who fight for their dreams till the end should definitely appreciate the director Ilan who has given a film that inspires the youth with the online title Star than. At the same time, he who has moved the first half of the film with only his college life, makes the fans a bit bored with the screenplay which does not have any excitement. However, the twist that comes during the interval adds to the film’s charm.

Although the second half seems to be returning to the first half in a different style as another love, again a dream journey, the performances of Gavin and Aditi Bohankar change that impression and make the film forget the flaws and celebrate the film.
