The story of the film is the heroic life story of P. Krishna Pillai, the first secretary and revolutionary who founded the Communist Party in Kerala, and the unity between Kerala and Tamil Nadu in terms of politics, women’s progress and social justice struggles.
Bharath, a wealthy man from a village in Tamil Nadu, is a communist. He does various things to the people of the village and interacts with everyone without seeing the inequalities of caste, rich or poor. At the same time, he stands by the people affected by caste atrocities in his neighboring village and takes them to Kerala to meet communist fighters to make them fight against the problems. ‘Veeravanakam’ is the story of the life of P.K. Medhini, a 96-year-old female communist fighter, and revolutionary hero P. Krishna Pillai, and how the communist revolution emerged and took shape in Kerala.
The story, which begins in 1940, travels to 1946. Although one side was fighting to expel the whites during these periods, director Anil V. Nagendran has recorded how communism created a new people’s revolution by rescuing the agricultural workers who were held in bondage by the zamindars and landowners who were running a separate government in Indian villages, without distorting the truth.
Samuthirakani, who plays the role of P. Krishna Pillai, has given life to the character by speaking and acting with emotional revolutionary lines. Samuthirakani, who plays aggressively and emotionally, reminding us of the sacrifices of the leaders who fought for the people, has become a great symbol for the film and the character of P. Krishna Pillai.
Bharath, who makes his entry as a rich communist with a big moustache and a majestic look, has done it well, even though it is a role beyond his age. Especially in the climax scene, the lines he speaks about his daughter’s love are a blow to those who propagate the false propaganda of honor killings and dramatic love.
Ritesh, who plays the role of a communist fighter, Prem Kumar, who plays the role of a police inspector, Ramesh Bisharodi, Surabi Lakshmi, revolutionary singer P.K. Medhini, Adarsh, Aishwika, who have played other characters are suitable choices for the characters.
Although Kaviyarasu’s cinematography is not grand, he has shot the scenes in a way that conveys the emotions of the characters to the audience.
The songs and background music of composers M.K. Arjunan, Perumbavoor G. Ravindran, James Vasanthan, C.J. Kuttappan, and P. Udayakumar are a lively journey to the scenes.
Written and directed by Anil V. Nagendran, P. Krishna Pillai’s heroic life has been presented as an emotional work.
Although there are no magic tricks like huge budgets, grand sets, and stunning making, director Anil V. Nagendran, who has directed the film with sincerity and emotion, giving the experience of reading a book about a revolutionary leader, has recorded very emphatically that struggle is the solution to all problems.
