Premji, a farmer who lost his wife, comes to Chennai to educate his daughter well. Everything is going as he expected, from renting a house, to working, to her schooling. Meanwhile, when he meets a doctor about his daughter’s health, it is revealed that the girl has been sexually abused without his knowledge. The girl, who thinks that the injustice she has suffered should not happen to anyone again, comes to the conclusion that she must find out who the culprit is who has corrupted her and kill him.
Understanding his daughter’s state of mind, Premji finds out who the culprit is and tries to kill him. Was this impossible attempt by ordinary people successful or not? The ‘power’ is to tell the girls who are victims of sexual abuse with anger and rage.
Rather than asking whether Premji has acted well, we can appreciate the fact that he tried to play such a character. Manushan has tried to play a compelling character that can be played emotionally without saying something like “we came, we waved our hands, we stroked our beard”, a few lines, many reactions. His effort can be welcomed generously.
Although the little girl Divadarshini, who plays Premji’s daughter, is shocking in her decision to avenge the injustice done to her, when she tells the reason for it with her childish face, the hearts of the audience are heavy.
‘Case number’ Muthuraman, who plays the police inspector, Super Good Subramaniam, who plays the police constable, C.R. Rajith, who plays the businessman, Subramanian Madhavan, who plays the car driver, Vidhu, who plays the petrol thief, and Dileephan, who plays the school assistant, are all suitable choices for the characters.
Music composer GKV and cinematographer Suraj Nallusamy have traveled according to the story. Although the cinematography and music are simple, they have been elegantly executed without distorting the essence and emotions of the story and screenplay.
Although editor C. Ganesh Kumar has tried his best to convey what the director wanted to say in a concise and interesting way and has reduced the length of the film to less than two hours, it makes one think that the length of the scenes could have been reduced even more.
Karuppiah Murugan, who has written the story, screenplay, dialogues, songs, directed and produced it, has very forcefully recorded the plight of girls in the current period where girls are living in a state of insecurity.
In a society where girls who are victims of sexual assault are only reported in the news, the director has succeeded in conveying to the audience the physical and mental pain that the affected children experience.
Although director Karuppiah Murugan, who has tried to convey the plight of the society in a somewhat interesting way through film language, has a strong storyline, the screenplay and visual systems for it are weak. Is this possible? It also raises the question.
