Chennai to get its first TROZ at Anna Nagar

The Chennai traffic police have come up with the city’s first TROZ (Traffic Regulation Observed Zone), which will be inaugurated at Anna Nagar on Saturday.

The police have joined hands with Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of car maker Hyundai, for this purpose.

“TROZ is a place where traffic regulations are keenly observed and monitored. This will go a long way in bringing down road mishaps and making the city a safe place for motorists,” officials said.

On the occasion, top officials of the police and transport departments would give introduction of TROZ and will also interact with the public to get their feedback. Later, the officials, along with the trustees of HMIF, will distribute pledge cards to volunteers and residents.

They will also paste road safety stickers on auto rickshaws and will urge auto drivers to follow road safety rules without fail.

“Zero mishaps is our target and we have been taking various measures to achieve the mission. Already, accidents have come down to a good extent and such programmes would help us to redcue the mishaps further,” said a police officer.
