Kalathur Gramam Movie Review

Kalathur Gramam is the story about a village and the problem that it faces because of the police force with a few sub plots.

Kishore, a native of the village (which is in the bad books of the government) is seen as a saviour by the residents. In one stage he gets married to Yagna Shetty and surrenders to the cops.

On his return his friend Tarun Shatriya says that Yagna is now his wife. This leads to a war of words between the friend in which Tarun is killed.

Tarun’s son wants to take revenge on Kishore for killing his father. Another sub plots involves Andhra gangster Bhima Rao.

Despite having so many sub-plots, director Saran Advaithan is able to intertwine them and present them clearly for the audience.

Kishore carries the entire film on his shoulders and has three getups in the movie.

Each and every character of the movie has a suitable cast who have understood their role and have delivered their best.

Despite being made on a short budget, the movie has some splendid technical work that captures the life in a village.

The director has brought out the various rituals that are performed in the village and the plight of the people in there.

Ilayaraja’s music has added the much needed mood for the flick.

The movie tends to be lengthy at times, but that can be overseen compared to the quality in which it is delivered.

Kalathur Gramam is a movie which shows that technically sound films can be made in lwo budgets too.
