Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam Review

Udhayanidhi, Nivetha Pethuraj in Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam Movie Review
Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam is the story of how a youngster who loves his village saves it from a guy who has vouched to remove everyone from the place.

Since there is no temple in Parthiban’s village, he goes to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s village to conduct the ear piercing function of his daughter Nivetha Pethuraj.

At that time, a death happens in the village, following which the villagers stop Parthiban’s function.

Feeling insulted by this Parthiban decides to take his revenge on the village. In the process he starts sending the naitves of the village to foreign country for job, ultimately reducing the population.

In the meanwhile, after growing up, Udhaynidhi does not leave the village and starts doing some good things for his birth place.

When he decides to improve the infrastructure of the village, he notices the good things that Parthiban does to the village where his sister was married to.

Taking this in to account, Udhay decides to marry Nivetha thinking that this will make Parthiban to do good things for his village as well.

He also succeeds in making Nivetha fall in love with him. However, later he finds out the actual intention of Parthiban and what he does after that forms the rest of the story.

This is the first time that Udhay has acted in a village role and he has done a commendable job with the slang and body language of a villager. His comic sense with soori has also come out well.

Nivetha Pethuraj comes like an angel in every frame and has carried out her role to perfection.

It is Parthiban who is the show stealer with his usual sarcasam and villainism. He instantly grabs the audience of the attention.

The humour section is taken care of by Soori and Mayilswamy and it has worked out well.

Music by Imman is also soothing and foot tapping.

However the scenes become predictable at stages and the humour too goes blunt at many places and the film has a cliched story line.

Director Thalapathy Prabhu has relied on his casting and humour and it might just have worked in his favour.

Rating: 2.5/5 – All that glitters…
