Annadurai Movie Review

Annadurai Movie Review Vijay Antony Diana Champika
Vijay Antony’s Annadurai, in which he plays double role for the first time, has hit the screens. The movie created much hype with the trailer, let’s see if it had lived up to the expectations.

The music composer-director plays the role of identitical twins Annadurai and Thambidurai. The elder brother who is a do-gooder becomes an alcoholic after he looses his lover in an accident.

After being persuaded for a long time, Annadurai agrees to get married but in a twist of events he ends up in the jail.

Thambidurai’s character is kept as secret till Annadurai returns from the jail and he is shocked to see his brother’s transformation.

The family is shaken up by a series of events within them and from external forces as well. How they manage to overcome their problems forms the rest of the story.

Director Srinivasan has attempted to make a family drama with some commerical elements to it and it has not come out that well. The screenplay is slow. The use of many characters also make it bit confusing.

Vijay Antony has carried both the roles and has managed to show differentiation in the characters. He has done well in action and emotional sequences.

A special mention has to be made about the stunt sequences and the way in which they were executed.

Annadurai would have fared well if it was released during the 20th century.

Rating: 3/5 – Slow and study
