A sad beginning for B’town

Veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri passed away on Friday due to heart attack at the age of 66.

The actor was part of more than hundred films since 1970 some of which include ‘Aarohan’, ‘Ardh Satya’ and ‘Dharavi’.

He made his movie debut with the Marathi flick ‘Gashiram Kotwal’.

The actor also played a prominent role in Kamal Haasan’s Tamil-Hindi bilingual period flick ‘ Hey Raam’.

He was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of art.

Celebrties including Kamal Haasan had condoled his death.

‘So long Omji. Prided myself on being his friend peer & admirer. Who dare say my Om Puri is no more ? He lives through his work,’ the actor has tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolence. Om Puri is survived by wife Nandita Puri and son Ishaan Puri.
