CIFF postponed to next year

The 14th Chennai International Film Festival which was scheduled to happen between 15 and 22 December has been postponed to next year following the demise of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

“As a mark of respect to the sad demise of our beloved former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu PuratchiThalaivi AMMA, the iron lady who has given support to the Chennai International Film Festival continuously for the last five years, Executive Committee of Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation has decided to postpone the 14th Chennai International Film Festival to 5 to 12 January 2017. We seek the support and cooperation from all of you like previous years,” an official press release from the Festival director E Thangaraj said.

It may also be noted that the last year festival was also postponed to January this year following the December floods.

It is said that 12 Tamil films will be screened under the competitive category this year.
