Carnatic singer M Balamuralikrishna Passed Away
Demise of Bala Murali Krishna shocks Kollywood

Legendary carnatic vocalist Bala Murali Krishna breathed his last on Tuesday evening after a prolonged illness.

The 86 year old Andhra born singer has given more than 25,000 concerts.

He learnt carnatic music from Parpualli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu, descendant of Thiyagaraja Swamigal.

He was a multi talented artist who excelled as a instrumentalist, playback singer and music composer.

He was awarded all the three civilian honours – Padmashri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to the art.

The songs ‘Oru Naal Podhuma’ in ‘Thiruvilayadal’ and ‘Chinnakanna Azhaikkiran’ in ‘Kavikkuyil’ for which he lent his voice are his everygreen and most memorable hits.

Apart from music he also acted in the role of Naradha in the super hit bilingual film ‘Bhakta Prahlada’.

Soon after his demise, the film fraternity started conveying their condolonces.
